God Is Bigger

Read: Psalm 147:5

Take a minute this morning to think about just how big God is.

God is all-powerful. There is nothing too hard for Him. He created everything we see, and He is not limited by the things that limit us.

God is all-knowing. He knows what we’re going through, what we need, and what’s coming next.

And God is always present. Wherever we go today, He is there. We never have to wonder if we’re facing something alone.

When we remember who God is, it helps us trust Him. We may not understand everything He is doing, but we can trust that He does. We don’t have to have all the answers because God does.

So whatever today brings—good, hard, exciting, or unexpected—let’s remember that our God is bigger than all of it.

Talk about it: What is one thing you want to trust God with today?

Pray:
God, thank You for being bigger than anything we will face today. Thank You for being all-powerful, all-knowing, and always with us. Help us trust You when we don’t understand and remember that You are in control. Amen.

This week, we’re doing Memory Mad Libs! First, see if you can fill in the verse with the right words. Then comes the fun part… try it again with your own silly words! 😂

What did we learn in Sunday School this week? 🔥

We learned about a showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal. The question was simple: Who is the one true God?

The prophets of Baal cried out to their god, but nothing happened. Then Elijah prayed to God, and God answered by sending fire from heaven. The fire consumed the sacrifice, the wood, the stones, the water, and even the dust around the altar!

There was no doubt that God alone is Lord.

We also talked about Psalm 34:8: “Taste and see that the Lord is good!” God has shown us that He is powerful, trustworthy, and worthy of our praise. He sent the Holy Spirit to empower Jesus’ disciples to tell others that Jesus is God’s Son who saves us from sin.

The big takeaway: There is no one like our God. He is the one true God, and He is worthy of all our praise.

🔥 What are we learning in Sunday School tomorrow?

We’re heading back to the story of Elijah and the prophets of Baal—and it’s a BIG one!

The question: Who is the one true God?

We’ll see what happened when the prophets of Baal cried out to their god… and then what happened when Elijah prayed to the one true God. Spoiler: God answered in a way nobody could miss! 🔥

We’ll also talk about Psalm 34:8:

“Taste and see that the Lord is good!”

Our kids will learn that God is powerful, trustworthy, and completely worthy of our praise.

A little bedtime reminder for the whole family: we were never meant to grow in our faith alone.🥱

Tonight, thank God for the people He has placed in your life who point you toward Jesus—parents, teachers, pastors, grandparents, coaches, youth leaders, and friends.

Thank Him for the people who teach you His Word, pray for you, encourage you when you’re struggling, and remind you that you are deeply loved by God.

🙏 Tonight’s prayer:
“Jesus, thank You for the people in my life who help me know You better. Thank You for those who teach me about Your Word and remind me how much You love me. Help me to listen, learn, and grow closer to You. Amen.”

Before you turn out the light, ask: Who is someone God has used to help me grow closer to Jesus?
Then thank God for them.

What’s one way we can get to know God better?
👉🏼 Read His Word!

The Bible shows us who God is—His power, goodness, and faithfulness. 📖 It reminds us of all He has done and all the promises He has kept.

And the more we know Him, the more we can trust Him, even when we don’t understand what’s happening. 🙏🏼

💬 Today’s prayer:
“God, thank You for giving us Your Word. Give me a passion to read the Bible every day. Help me know You more and trust You more. Amen.”

We’re taking away a few words and seeing how much we can remember. Can you fill in the blanks? 👀

🚦 What did we learn in Sunday School?

Road signs are there to point us in the right direction and keep us safe. But imagine if a stop sign told you to GO instead! 😳 Things could get chaotic pretty quickly.

This week, we learned about Jeroboam and the kings of Israel. God had repeatedly shown His people His power and faithfulness, but Jeroboam led them away from the One True God and toward idols. Even when God warned him, he continued to disobey.

Just like a wrong road sign can lead us in the wrong direction, sin leads us away from God. And all of us sin. Our disobedience breaks the relationship with God we were created to have.

But that’s not where the story ends. ❤️

God loved us while we were still sinners and sent Jesus to rescue us. Jesus died and rose again to pay for our sin and bring us back to God. He is the true King whose kingdom lasts forever!

🙏 Pray together:
“Jesus, thank You for being the true King whose kingdom lasts forever. Thank You for making a way for our sins to be forgiven. Help us turn away from sin and follow You. Amen.”
