Before you say yes to serving, take time to pray. 🙏

In Entrusted to Serve, Executive Pastor Eric Schmidt reminds us that God calls us to think clearly, pray intentionally, and use our time wisely.

You don’t have to do everything. Start by asking God where you can faithfully serve in this season of life.

Where might God be inviting you to use what He’s given you?

If you’re ready to explore some of the ways you can get connected at GVBC, follow the link in our Highlights.

What exactly do Christians mean when we say we believe in the Trinity?

One God. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

It can feel like a difficult concept to wrap our minds around, but the Trinity isn't just a theological term to memorize. It tells us something incredibly important about who God is and how He has made Himself known to us.

The Father is God.
The Son is God.
The Holy Spirit is God.
And yet there is one God.

As we study Scripture, we see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working together in creation, salvation, prayer, and the life of the believer. The Trinity may stretch our understanding, but it also gives us a deeper picture of the God we worship.

And if you've ever thought, "I know I'm supposed to understand this, but I'm still confused," you're not alone. That's exactly why we study.

Join us Wednesdays at 6 PM as Pastor Calvin walks through Wayne Grudem's Christian Beliefs. We'll work through the foundational truths of the Christian faith, open our Bibles, ask questions, and grow in our understanding of what we believe and why it matters.

Whether you've been following Jesus for years, you're newer to the faith, or you're simply curious about Christianity, you are welcome to join us.

Come learn with us. Bring your Bible. Bring your questions. And come ready to grow in knowing the God we worship.

Sometimes the storm comes when you’re doing exactly what Jesus told you to do.

The disciples weren’t running from God. They weren’t being disobedient. They were in the boat with Jesus, heading exactly where He had told them to go.

And then the storm came.

The waves were crashing over the boat. They were convinced they were going to die. And Jesus was asleep.

So they woke Him with a question that sounds familiar:

“Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

Jesus stood, rebuked the wind and the sea, and immediately there was a great calm.

But the miracle wasn’t the end of the story. It was the beginning of a much bigger question:

“Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?”

That’s the question Mark 4 ultimately puts in front of us.

This passage isn’t simply about Jesus making our problems disappear. It reveals who Jesus is.

He is God in the flesh. He is Lord over creation. He is sovereign over the things we understand and the things we don’t. And because He is who Scripture says He is, we can trust Him—not only to calm a storm, but with our entire lives.

Following Jesus was never a promise of smooth sailing. The disciples were exactly where Jesus wanted them to be when the storm hit.

But they were also exactly where they needed to be:

with Jesus.

And that’s still true for us.

Whatever we are facing, there is no safer place to be than in the hands of the One who commands the wind and the waves.

Pastor Calvin Wittman continues our Series on Mark with Who Then Is This? from Mark 4:35–41.

Watch the full sermon on YouTube at the link in our bio, and follow along with the whole series as we continue walking through Mark together.

And if you’re looking for a place to grow in your faith, find biblical truth you can actually live out, and be part of a church community, follow us here.

We’ll be here every week with Scripture, encouragement, worship, stories from our church family, and what’s happening at GVBC.

You don’t have to do life alone. Come be part of what God is doing here.

CAREGIVER MINISTRY
A support ministry for current and former caregivers

Sundays | 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
Room 1 | Begins October 4

Caregiving can be a beautiful calling, but it can also be exhausting, lonely, and overwhelming. Whether you are currently caring for a loved one or have walked through a season of caregiving, you don’t have to do it alone.

Caregiver Ministry is a place to find emotional support without judgment, prayer, encouragement, and practical information from professionals who can help with things like medical devices, available social services, and other resources.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25:35–40 that when we care for others, we are serving Him:

“For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink…”
— Matthew 25:35

And He goes on to say, “to the extent that you did it to one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did it to Me.”

This ministry is about coming alongside caregivers, meeting real needs, and reminding one another that none of us were meant to carry the weight alone.

All current and former caregivers are welcome.
