Sharing of Our Joys And Concerns

*Call To Worship
Leader: Good morning!
People: Good morning!
Leader: We live in a world of beauty and ugliness, peace and war, justice and unfairness.
People: Nothing we do is perfect, and we live with our mistakes and shortcomings.
Leader: We are flawed mortals, existing in a state of fallen grace.
People: We seek clarity. We pursue beacons of hope and vision.
Leader: The words of Jesus touch our hearts with their awesome truth.
People: Follow Jesus, the Holy Shepherd, as he unlocks his Father’s home to all believers!

*Hymn
“Take the Name of Jesus With You” # 66

*Prayer of Confession (In Unison)
Almighty God, our Lord Jesus spoke to us in parables and stories. He offered us choices. Yet, he never forced anyone to follow him. Forgive us, O Lord, when we pick an easy path that leads us to revel in delight here on earth and turn our back on the more difficult trail. Allow us to realize that salvation is only accomplished through Jesus Christ. Turn us from the wide-open road that dead-ends in destruction and defeat. Help us along the uphill path that leads us to heaven and the eternity to come in your joyous presence. Hold our hand as we walk towards your home. Amen.

*Assurance of Pardon
Leader: This is the covenant I will establish declares the Lord.
People: I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.
Leader: I will be their God, and they will be my people.
People: I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Amen.

*Gloria Patri
“Glory Be to the Father” # 575

*Affirmation of Faith – The Apostles’ Creed (In Unison)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the Holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Thought For The Day

“Gratefulness is the key to a happy life that we hold in our hands, because if we are not grateful, then no matter how much we have we will not be happy — because we will always want to have something else or something more.”

To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin,
And opened the life gate that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, let the people rejoice!
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

“Our world has more information; but less wisdom. More data; less clarity. More stimulation; less synthesis. More distraction; less stillness. More pontificating; less pondering. More opinion; less research. More speaking; less listening. More to look at; less to see. More amusements; less joy. There is more, but we are less.”
