Prelude

Sharing our Common Joys and Concerns

*Call to Worship
Leader: Good Morning!
People: Good Morning!
Leader: My Brethren, have you a worry or a fear?
People: Yes, we are mere mortals and there is danger around us.
Leader: The Lord promises us a safe haven in Heaven.
People: But we are weak and need protection on this earth.
Leader: Alas, our souls are immortal but our bodies are not.
People: Does our Lord not hear our prayers?
Leader: Yes, and many of the first shall be the last.
People: On the glorious day of final judgment, many will be called. . .
Leader: . . . But few will be chosen.
People: Praise the Lord, for by His grace alone, shall we enter into His kingdom!

*Hymn: “I Can Hear My Savior Calling” # 369

*Prayer of Confession:
Almighty God, sometimes we read the Bible and become confused. We try to be righteous and uphold the commandments. Yet, all around us, we see good people pass away and evil people turn away from you. Forgive us, O Lord, when we substitute what we want in this world for the universal truths that you bestow. Calm our bitterness, bind our broken hearts, quell our hurt and take us back into your flock. Remind us that events occur according to your plan, not to our wishes. Strengthen us so we may face the oncoming days with our hand in yours. In Jesus’ forgiving and healing name. Amen

*Assurance of Pardon:
Leader: Be comforted and hear the good tidings of the gospel.
People: If any man hath sinned, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
Leader: He is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
People: Believe the gospel and live in peace.
Amen.

*Gloria Patri # 575

*Affirmation of Faith
*The Apostles’ Creed (In Unison)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into Heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the Holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prelude
Sharing Our Common Joys and Concerns

*Call To Worship:
Leader: Good Morning!
People: Good Morning!
Leader: The spirit of the Lord is everywhere.
People: It flows through the rivers. It dances with the lightning in the sky.
Leader: It clings to the granite of mountains. It sings in the desert.
People: The spirit fills up His people. It changes their lives.
Leader: There is no way to be the same once the Lord chooses you.
People: The power of the Lord will transform and enrich you.
Leader: Fill us with your quiet power, O Heavenly Father.
People: For we are your children, praying to you to bless our mortal lives.

*Hymn: “Sing Them Over Again To Me” # 222

*Prayer Of Confession: (In Unison)
Almighty God, the loudest voices shout out your praise and their volume scares us. Forgive us, O Lord, when we listen to bluster and balderdash and believe that your words are to be found within. Reveal to us in quiet wonder the powerful message that you gave to the Apostles. That Jesus is the Holy son of God and that he and his omnipotent Father are united in their love of their headstrong and willful children. Keep us close to you and keep us upon the path that will lead us to the salvation that only Jesus can provide. We love you and need you Lord. Amen.

*Assurance of Pardon:
Leader: O Lord, in penitence we come to thee, beseeching thy forgiveness.
People: Mercifully grant us absolution from all our sins and faults.
Leader: And restore unto us on this beautiful morning the joy of thy salvation.
People: This we ask for in Jesus Christ’s sake, our only Mediator, Advocate and Absolver of wicked sin. Amen.

*Gloria Patri # 575
