Hartsville Center Cemetery Association

Hartsville Center Cemetery Association The Hartsville Center Cemetery is located at 5172 Purdy Creek Road in Hartsville, New York. The Association was Incorporated in 1870.

The Hartsville Center Cemetery Association was Incorporated in 1870. The cemetery is located on Purdy Creek Road (County Route 28) in the Town of Hartsville, New York. We are a Not-For-Profit Association Governed by the New York State Division Of Cemeteries. After several years of inactivity and disarray many descendants of the founding members of the Association restarted the Association and new

By-Laws were adopted in 1964 at a Membership Meeting. Over the years members have gathered each year making needed repairs (ie. cleaning, fixing broken stones, filling in areas etc). The oldest burial is 1821 of the Kersely brothers who died two days apart. Because of the span of time of inactivity in the Association the earlier records of burials are sparce and we have many unknown burials in the cemetery as according to County Historian Records people are supposed to be buried here but we do not know where in the cemetery they are buried. We are Permanent Maintenance Association -- we depend on the interest received from funds deposited in Permanent Maintenance accounts from the sale of grave spaces, donations and the time many members contribute each year to maintain our cemetery. We take pride in providing a beautiful final resting place for family and friends -- After all we would not be here if it wasn't for them first.
