Matthew 5:14-16 states "You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." NRSV Lighthouses send out a strong light to the ships to guide them through the fog. God could have chosen to reveal Himself directly to everyone, instead He chose to work through people sharing with people. Like a lamp that's lit to give light to others, we're blessed with the gospel to become blessing-bearers to those around us. There are many who are lost in the fog.

FUMC Hamilton's Mission Statement coincides with this exact teaching....Sharing God's Love Through Faith in Jesus Christ.
