These words come from Archbishop Hebda's recent pastoral letter to families, Only One Thing Is Necessary.

As a parent, you are the first and most important teacher your children will ever have when it comes to the faith. The Church calls parents the primary educators of their children, and that's a beautiful calling. But it's also one that can feel heavy. Many parents wonder if they know enough, if they're doing enough, if they're even qualified.

Here's the good news: you don't walk this path alone. You don't have to have it all figured out. The Church is right beside you through the sacraments, through your parish, through resources that meet you exactly where you are and help you hand on the faith at home.

The future of the faith really does pass through the family, through ordinary parents, in ordinary homes, doing their best to lead their children toward heaven.

Today is the feast of Saint Dominic, and it's a great one to celebrate with your kids.

He was born around 1170 into a family so holy that his mother and two of his brothers were beatified right alongside him. He loved his studies while everyone around him chased the next party. And when he saw how confused people had become about the faith, he founded an entire order devoted to preaching the truth, plus a school and a convent so children could learn it well.

Then Our Lady gave him something even better: a rosary, and the mission to teach ordinary people how to pray it. Thousands came home to the Church because of it.
