Lord Jesus, you came to set us free from sin, doubt, fear, and ignorance. Your word brings life, truth, and healing to mind, heart, soul, and body. Let your healing love free me from the blindness of sin and disbelief and from the destructive force of evil and wrongdoing. May I always find peace, joy, and strength in knowing your merciful love, truth, and goddness.

As we approach Holy Week, have you prepared yourself and your heart to walk with Christ? Are you willing to go to the upper room for the passover that will forever be changed in its meaning? Are you willing to pray but one hour with Christ in his agony in the Garden or are you weighed down with the world's sleep and sin? Can you go with the Christ to the judgement and be willing to stand with him or will you as Peter believe yourself bold only to let fear in at the last to save your own self from persecution? Can you bear the cross like Simon of Cyrene who was forever changed and whose sons Alexander and Rufus became leaders of churches because of an encounter with Christ by simply bearing a cross? Are you ready to be like the lone women and the disciple whom Jesus loved who risked all just to stay and comfort Jesus in His final hours?
It is easy to be the crowd who celebrated with palms one week and were stirred up by Pharisees the next to want ex*****on. Which one will you be?

Before he died, a father said to his son; “Here is a watch that your grandfather gave me. It is almost 200 years old. Before I give it to you, go to the jewelry store downtown. Tell them that I want to sell it, and see how much they offer you."

The son went to the jewelry story, came back to his father, and said; "They offered $150.00 because it's so old."

The father said; “Go to the pawn shop."

The son went to the pawn shop, came back to his father, and said; "The pawn shop offered $10.00 because it looks so worn."

The father asked his son to go to the museum and show them the watch.

He went to the museum, came back, and said to his father; “The curator offered $500,000.00 for this very rare piece to be included in their precious antique collections."

The father said; “I wanted to let you know that the right place values you in the right way. Don't find yourself in the wrong place and get angry if you are not valued. Those that know your value are those who appreciate you, don't stay in a place where nobody sees your value."

Know your worth.

I hear so much about COVID19 may be a judgment of God for sins for this or that and I felt I need to say something. Jesus was posed a similar question in Luke 13:1-5. In this passage people were wondering if a traumatic event was God's judgment, Jesus then mentioned one man made event and one natural event that had happened and in both cases he said "Do you think they suffered because they were worse sinners?" In each case the answer was NO. HOWEVER, Jesus added a warning, unless you repent you will likewise perish. In other words He is saying take warning there IS A COMING JUDGMENT and you need to be ready.
When we see this virus and are tempted to see it as a judgment on the earth by God, we really need to be examining ourselves to see where sin exists and turn from it because there is a coming judgment when everyone will have to give account for everything they have ever done. The time to change is now while there is still time. Softly and tenderly Jesus is still calling, calling oh sinner come home.

The world's worst prison is the prison of an unforgiving heart. If we refuse to forgive others, then we are only imprisoning ourselves and causing our own torment. Some of the most miserable people are those who will not forgive others. They live only to imagine ways to punish the people who have wronged them. In reality they are only punishing themselves.

The important point about prayer is not simply getting an answer, but being the kind of person whom God can trust with an answer.

"Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate." - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
