PULL-UP: Aligning your self-talk with God’s Spirit. Yesterday was an extremely difficult day for me to walk in divine alignment with my own internal dialogue and expectations. It was essential for me to walk in victory by obeying the Word of the Lord and aligning my voice with it. (2 Corinthians 10:5) I could sense my "inner parent and teacher" communicating, “If you had friends who spoke to you the way you speak to yourself, by your own choice, they would no longer be your friends.” (maybe this never happens to you...) However, that Rhema spoken truth revealed something deeper .... your self-talk matters. The words you rehearse inwardly shape your confidence, your faith, and your identity.
Sometimes your self-expectations become sharp, unrealistic, or rooted in fear instead of truth. (Proverbs 18:21) Maybe you correct yourself more than you encourage yourself. But God never designed your inner voice to tear you down. (Romans 8:1) Jesus speaks through your inner voice, guiding you in truth, strength, and peace. Let Jesus speak through your inner voice, guiding you in truth, strength, and peace. Listen intently throughout your day with an open heart. Willingly allow the Holy Spirit to speak. Through His Spirit, His inner witness speaks life, truth, and grace inwardly. Your self-love is not pride or conceit -- it is agreement with how God sees you. (1 John 4:8) When God’s Spirit speaks inwardly, He corrects with compassion, leads with truth, and restores with His perfect love. His voice will never sound like condemnation. It will sound like conviction wrapped in hope. (Romans 12:2) The goal is heaven ... don’t talk yourself out of it.
"When adversity threatens to hijack your words, scripture urges guarding the mouth to preserve life, relying on God for restraint rather than reacting with emotional internal sabotage." (Proverbs 13:3) You possess authority to shift your self-talk into agreement with heaven. Throughout the day, listen carefully for the Holy Spirit's "breathed upon" voice of direction and/or revelation. Are your inward thoughts or voice aligned with God’s Spirit, or with unrealistic expectations and criticism? You are stronger than the moment. Keep believing. Keep the faith. Speak God's truth to thoughts so it becomes a place where His truth lives. Arrest and replace. What words have you been speaking to yourself that do not reflect God’s truth or His love? How can you intentionally align your self-talk with what God’s Spirit is saying about you today?
