St. George Catholic Church

St. George Catholic Church We are very proud of our long history and our location on the historic Guilford Green. In the 19th century, some of our earliest parish services were held

In the 19th century, some of our earliest parish services were held in the historic Stone House. Later, in 1860 the parish bought its first permanent home, a store front on Whitfield Street. In 1876 the first parish church was built at 161 Whitfield Street. Today our cruciform church on the green evokes Colonial Williamsburg in its style and as a result of the renovations following a fire in June 1998 it embodies the most up-to-date liturgical decor.

OCIA, The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, is designed for adults who have not been baptized, baptized in another Christian denomination or baptized Catholics who did not receive further religious training or celebrate the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation. It is a journey of faith for those who desire to learn about the Catholic faith, Scripture and the teachings of the Church while developing a relationship with God in their lives. The OCIA journey ultimately prepares participants to celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.

St. George Parish Website New Information/Changes

Our Parish website is getting a fresh new look!! The Archdiocese is updating all parish websites so there is a consistent and easy to use design. We have been working hard to transfer information from our current site to the new one. You will still use the same website link that you have used in the past:

www.stgeorgeguilford.org

The new website will be a "work in progress" for a little while. Some pages or information may be missing temporarily as we move everything over. Please be patient during this transition. All pages and information will be restored as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation as we move forward with this exciting change.
