At a meeting of the Christian Scientist Association, April 12, 1879, on motion of Mrs. Eddy, it was voted, — To organize a church designed to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing. (Manual of The Mother Church, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 17)
CHURCH. The structure of Truth and Love; whatever rests upon and proceeds from
divine Principle. The Church is that institution, which affords proof of its utility and is found elevating the race, rousing the dormant understanding from material beliefs to the apprehension of spiritual ideas and the demonstration of divine Science, thereby casting out devils, or error, and healing the sick. Our church is located at 49 Park Street on the historic Guilford Green, minutes from exit 58 off Interstate 95. We are a branch church of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston Massachusetts. The building was originally built as Third Congregational Church in 1850 by a group of abolitionists who broke away from First Church. It was the Parish House for Christ Episcopal Church and in the 30's and 40's it was a theater called The Chapel Playhouse. In 1951, a group of Christian Scientists bought the building, returning it to its original use as a church. It has been recently accepted into the Connecticut Historic Restoration Fund Matching Grant program for renovations. We are currently conducting our services in person and on Zoom:

SUNDAY SERVICE: 10:30am
A weekly Bible Lesson is read by elected members of the church congregation. The same service is performed at every Christian Science church around the world. The Sunday School meets at the same time as the Sunday Sunday church service. Each class has discussions on how they can turn to God for guidance, protection and healing. WEDNESDAY TESTIMONY MEETING: 7:30PM
Every Wednesday evening a meeting is held that includes brief readings and hymns compiled by the First Reader. Following the readings, the meeting is open to testimonies. Members of the congregation are able to share how they have been healed or inspired through study and reliance on Christian Science. SUNDAY SCHOOL in person and via Zoom: 10:30am
Bring your kids to Sunday School for students up to the age of 20. Children and teens learn Moses’ Ten Commandments, Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, and the many healing experiences in the Bible and how these sacred accounts are meaningful to them. THANKSGIVING: Join us for a special service for giving thanks. This unique service includes readings from the Bible and Science and Health, and time during which the congregation may give testimonies geared to the special day. This service is held at 10:30 on Thanksgiving morning. READING ROOM: The Christian Science Reading Room is located in the front of the Church. It is a spiritual discovery center for all those seeking a better understanding of their relationship with God. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, as well as her other writings, Bibles, other related literature, and are on sale here. All Christian Science books and magazines can be read, borrowed or purchased. In addition, there are over 140 years of documented Christian healings. The Reading Room is open from noon to 2 pm from Tuesday through Saturday and after church services.
