Blessing of the Athletes 🏈⚽️🏀⚾️🥎🎾🏐🏃‍♀️🏃

⛪️ This morning, we recognized and prayed for our youth and children playing sports this year!

🏅 Peyton Larkins, Ryder Larkins, Addy McCaslan, Mary Margaret Skinner, and Rosemary Skinner are our members awarded to this year’s Drake Commitment List honor roll in recognition of commitment to attending Sunday School, worship, and youth activities over the past year while playing sports. This is in honor of the late Chuck Drake and in the spirit of Mr. Drake’s rule that men in the Drake Sunday School class were to attend Sunday School in order to play on church sports teams.

🏅 Peyton Larkins was awarded this year’s Dula Award in recognition of long-term excellence in athletics, leadership, and commitment to Main Street UMC. The Dula Award is in honor of Shell and Mary Dula and their long-term excellence in athletics, their leadership, and their continual dedication to Main Street.

🙏 We are praying for all student athletes and coaches to have a fun, successful, and safe year. We are grateful for the Lord’s continued blessings for our youth and children, and pray for them to keep pointing others to Christ through their sportsmanship and example.

The Chad Withered Scholarship was created by Main Street United Methodist Church to support Greenwood County students with college potential and Christian commitment. Our former president Jeff Smith presented this year's scholarship to Addison Leopard during a recent church service. We wish the best for Addison as she attends the University of South Carolina this fall!
