In 1979, one man chose to adopt nine baby girls that no one else was willing to take together. What happened decades later is remarkable.
After losing his wife, Laura, Richard Hayes was left with an empty home and a promise he could never forget: “Don’t let the love stop here. Share it with others.”
One evening, he visited a local orphanage and learned that nine infant girls were at risk of being separated because no family wanted to adopt all of them.
Richard made a decision few people could understand.
“I’ll take every one of them.”
Many thought he was making an impossible choice. He sold possessions, worked multiple jobs, and built a life around raising nine children. He learned to do everything from cooking large meals to comforting nightmares and helping with schoolwork.
As the years passed, the girls grew into accomplished women. Some became teachers, others entered healthcare, and each carried forward the care and support they received growing up.
Today, Richard is surrounded by nine daughters whose lives were shaped by one extraordinary act of commitment.
It’s a powerful reminder that love is not limited by circumstance. Sometimes one decision can change generations ❤️
