Here's today's devotion, from 2 Corinthians 12. In this chapter, Paul talks about the types of people God can use best: those who are small and weak in the world's eyes! God fills such people, who rely totally on God, with His Holy Spirit. He uses them as His instrument for working in the world, so that it's plain that HE is working, instead of human talent, which stirs up pride. When He works through the small, HE gets the glory! That means, He can work through YOU!

Here's today's devotion, from 2 Corinthians 11. In this chapter, Paul further defends himself against the slander being spread about him by false apostles in Corinth. They accuse him of being too simple of speech, and worn ragged by all the travels and mistreatment he's faced. And--horror of horrors--Paul doesn't charge people for his Gospel ministry! Paul counters that these are the very things which mark him as the authentic apostle. His humility and trials show that he's imitating the ministry of Jesus! Meanwhile, the false apostles are exploiting the Corinthians to enrich themselves. Takeaways for us include rejecting outward appearances, following the humble path of Jesus, and watching over fellow believers in love.

Here's today's devotion, from 2 Corinthians 10. Facing a group of false "apostles" who had slipped into Corinth and were trying to undercut Paul's leadership, Paul displayed what true authority looks like for one who has been genuinely called by Christ as a witness. The charlatans accused Paul of being bold in letters, but weak in person, but Paul informed the church that upon his arrival, they would see that the Holy Spirit's power would be there to back up his teaching. The application point for us, Christ's witnesses, is that we are not going out in our own strength or abilities either. We are filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit, and we don't need to fear those who would silence our Gospel message. We can clearly speak the truth, in love.

Here's today's devotion, from 2 Corinthians 9. Paul continues to instruct Corinthian church about giving generously to the relief of the poor. But also, he stresses the importance of CHEERFUL giving, not out of a sense of obligation. When God sees a believer joyfully using His provision to bless others, He will continue to use them as a channel of His blessings. He will bless them back, in ways that far excel mere human money. One of the biggest blessings is the chance to be part of God's work in sharing His love. There's meaning and excitement in that which no amount of money can buy!
