What does it mean to "Surrender to God"

Surrender does not mean giving up on life, abandoning your responsibilities, or becoming passive while you wait for God to do everything. Biblical surrender means placing your life, desires, plans, and decisions into God's hands and choosing His will above your own.
Jesus showed us what surrender looks like.
In Gethsemane, knowing the suffering that was ahead, Jesus prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done.” Surrender was not easy or painless. It was an act of obedience and complete trust in the Father.

Sometimes we say we trust God while still insisting that He follow the future we have already planned. We want His guidance, but only toward the destination we have chosen. We want His answer, but only if it is the answer we hoped to hear.
True surrender says something different.
“God, this is what I want. This is what I have prayed for. But I trust Your wisdom more than my own understanding.”
Surrender is not losing control of your life. It is recognizing that ultimate control was never yours—and trusting the One who sees what you cannot.
“Yet not my will, but yours be done.” — Luke 22:42

Is talking to God the most important thing or is listening to God the most important thing.

Think about it, if you pray to God for healing, hope, or miracles and dont listen for his response. What was the point of the talk.

How do you hear God. For me I have to be connected to him. I get connected and stay connected to God by reading and hearing his word spoke and taught.
