(Week 62) “Breaking Bread”
The Messiah Has Come
Matthew 16:1-12

This world is full of phonies. It’s just a fact, and they have always been around. When Moses
stood before Pharaoh in Egypt and brought forth a word from The LORD, he was vehemently opposed by
Jannes and Jambres, the court magicians who claimed that they spoke on behalf of the gods of Egypt.
So how can we be able to discern the true from the false? God has equipped us thoroughly to do so. He
has given us His Word and His Spirit to guide. Those who are truly born again in Christ Jesus have all
the help that they need to know His direction. So why is it that we allow ourselves to be distracted by
false teachings that cause us to wander off course? The answer is simple. It is because we are enticed
by our own flesh to do so.

(Week 61) “He Does it Again!”
The Messiah Has Come
Matthew 15:32:-39

When The LORD first came to the region, Mark tells us that someone there brought to Him a deaf
man, whom Jesus healed. Jesus commanded the people not to speak of this miracle, but not being able
to contain themselves, the people spread the news about the great healer in their midst. As a result of his
testimony, a great multitude of people came out to see for themselves, bringing their sick, crippled, and
blind to lay at His feet. The Greek text actually alludes to the fact that they rushed to “throw” their afflicted
citizenry at Him in rapid succession, more than likely because they were afraid He might leave the area
before they could get to Him for healing.

(Week 60) “Blessed Are The Poor In Spirit”
The Messiah Has Come
Matthew 15:21:-28

Now we have come to yet another so-called “controversial” passage in Matthew’s Gospel. Those
who have a liberal mindset nearly lose their minds when they read about The Savior's encounter with the
Phoenician Gentile woman of Tyre. They feel that Jesus somehow was cruel in His initial response to her
pleadings for His mercy. I never cease to be amazed at how flawed humanity somehow thinks that they
are qualified to judge the actions of a righteous and holy God. But that is the landscape of where we are
these days, once again proving out the Scripture:

(Week 59) “Vain Worship”
The Messiah Has Come
Matthew 14:34 - 15:20

In the passage we are studying today, we will see the stark comparison between empty religious piety and a genuine transformation of the spirit within. And though many in Israel desperately needed a cleansing touch from the Savior, they refused to acknowledge this reality and remained lost in their sins. How sad it is when a person is clearly shown the power of God and chooses to stand apart from the flame, as it were. God has offered us this great salvation to bring us near to Himself, and yet many choose to remain at a distance, trusting in their own good works to save them, rather than accepting the
grace He has offered.

(Week 58) “The Stormy Sea”
The Messiah Has Come
Matthew 14:22-32

While it is entirely true that without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6), faith was
never intended to be used to keep us from difficulty, or testing, or trial. Faith is what is given to sustain us
through difficulty, testing, and trial. In fact, The Bible has never promised us an easy road. Quite the
contrary, we are promised that to follow Christ requires obedience and self-sacrifice.

Amos: The Nobody from Nowhere:
Amos 9

Upon just a quick reading of the text in the ninth and final chapter of Amos, it becomes obvious
that it is broken down in two vastly different sections. The first is a passage of inescapable judgment upon
the nation of Israel, while the latter carries a message of hope and restoration. Our God takes no
pleasure in the destruction of the wicked. He would much rather that sinners repent and be reconciled to
Him (Ezekiel 33:11). But there is a line that can be crossed when God must act. He will not set aside His
holiness, and righteousness, even though He longs to extend His mercy. This is why it is so important that
sinners repent and return to Him while there is yet time.

(Week 57) “When Little Becomes Much”
The Messiah Has Come
Matthew 14:13-21

Have you ever had self-doubt? I mean, it's so easy to do. You just take a look around and see so
many people who seem to have more talent, more intelligence, more education, and quite honestly, more
of pretty much everything, and find yourself feeling so inadequate. I've done that many times. I've often
heard that voice inside my head that says, "Why are you even trying to do this? Don't you realize what a
nobody you are?" If you have ever felt like this, then I have some awesome news for you... Jesus uses
nobodies, just like all of us! The devil loves to make us feel insignificant, and in our own strength we are,
but fortunately for us, we don't have to live within our own strength. Christ calls us to give all we have to
Him, and then see the miraculous things that He can do with it

(Week 56) “Two Sides To The Story”
The Messiah Has Come
Matthew 14:1-13a

In our passage of study today, we will see the tragic ex*****on of the fearless John the Baptist at
the hands of a ruler who was literally scared of his own shadow. The dichotomy of these two lives is
striking and also compelling. For in their story, we see the two separate paths that a person may follow in
this life, with one road leading to death and the other leading to life everlasting. To the casual observer of
this world, Herod would be the victor in this tale of woe and John the defeated. But Herod’s triumph over
John would eventually lead to tragedy, while John’s tragic demise would ultimately lead to triumph. For
heaven’s perspective is entirely different from the perspective of this fallen world!
