Amos: The Nobody from Nowhere:
Amos 6

If we were to name all the terrible sins that people commit in this world, this one would
probably not even receive an “honorable mention”. But apathy is a grievous sin in God’s eyes
nonetheless. God expects, in fact commands that His people care deeply for the suffering of others. The
Old Testament Law as well as New Testament doctrine teaches us that the commandments are easily
summarized into two portions; Namely, to love our God, and to love one another.

Amos: The Nobody from Nowhere:
Amos 5

The northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah had been through what can
only be described as a messy divorce. The fracture between them occurred shortly after the death of
King Solomon. It seems that Solomon, who was of the tribe of Judah, was very unsympathetic to the
peoples of the northern ten tribes. In fact, he had used his immense power to abuse these, his Jewish
brethren, much as one would treat his slaves, taxing them heavily and instituting a system of forced
rotational labor.
