Bethesda Church

Bethesda Church Led by Pastor Mark Laughlin-our historic, God fearing church is committed to helping people deepen their walk with Christ.

Join us for Sunday School at 9:00 AM and worship at 10:00 AM. No matter where you are in life, there's a place for you here ✝️ We are one of the oldest Methodist churches in Tennessee. Even before the first church building was built in 1792 people met in nearby homes. Originally a log structure, the present building was built in 1938. Our small chapel is personal and informal. One immediately gets a sense of the Appalachian Mountain history and the people who built it.

“He wouldn’t stay dead, and he won’t stay gone”✝️

The sun has risen, the stone is rolled away, and our hearts are absolutely full after an incredible Easter celebration! Today, we carry the joy of the empty tomb with us, holding onto the promise that life and light have the final word. It was such a blessing to see our sanctuary filled with familiar faces and new friends alike, all joined together by the Spirit of our Living God. As we move into this new week, let’s keep that Easter fire burning, remembering that the hope we celebrated this morning isn't just for one day—it’s a reality that changes every day that follows 💜

Why do we call it "Good" Friday?
Because on the darkest day in history, the greatest act of love took place ✝️

Jesus, perfectly innocent, took on the weight of a cross He didn’t deserve. He was mocked, beaten, and crucified—not because of any guilt of His own, but because of His radical love for us. He took the nails, the mockery, and the weight of every sin—past, present, and future—and traded His life for ours.

He took the debt we couldn’t pay to give us a future we couldn’t earn.

Jesus didn’t go to the cross for a crowd; He went for you personally. He endured the separation from the Father so that you could be restored to God.

"But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him..." (Isaiah 53:5)

Today, we honor the sacrifice. We sit in the gratitude. We hold onto the hope💜

What a powerful and beautiful way to start off Holy Week!!!

This Palm Sunday we had an amazing morning of worship. We started off with music by Threads of Faith, which was a blessing to hear, and then it was followed by such a wonderful message by Cole Baxley!

This morning was a beautiful reminder that when we come together in unity, His presence is truly felt. We are very grateful for Church family and the amazing morning of worship we shared ✝️

Reminder‼️‼️

We’d love to have you out tomorrow for our 5th Sunday Special. We believe it’s going to be a great morning full of worship. Hope to see you there!

Mark your calendars!!!

We’d love to have you join us as we welcome Threads of Faith and Cole Baxley for a great morning of worship, fellowship, and the Word of God!

We’re also collecting a love offering that will support the singers and preacher, as well as our youth’s upcoming projects — Easter baskets for a local nursing home and goodie bags for Camp Creek kids during TCAPs.

Come as you are. Bring your family. Invite a friend. We’d love to have you all!

What a blessing this morning was!!! ✝️

We got to worship with beautiful music by Madison Metcalf-Shelton and Covin Shelton, followed by a great message from Covin!

With our love offering, we raised money for both the Shelton’s and for our Shop with a Cop program. The Sheltons were very generous and donated their half of the offering. With that, and the donation from our Youth Group, we raised a total of $1,738 for Shop with a Cop!!! What a blessing!!!

Join us for a wonderful morning of worship and music on November 30th ✝️

A special offering will be taken, with half of the proceeds supporting the Shelton’s and the other half benefiting Greeneville’s Shop with a Cop Christmas Program, a ministry our young adult class is blessed to support and excited to help with on December 6th.

🎉Pastor Appreciation Month🎉

This month, we’re celebrating our amazing pastor, Mark, for all he does for our church family! We are so thankful for his guidance, encouragement, and the love he pours into our congregation every week.

We also had a little fun and asked Pastor Mark a few get-to-know-you questions:

📖 Favorite Bible verse?
Philippians 4:13 or Joshua 24:15b

🎙️ What year did you start preaching?
I announced my call to preach in 2014 and started pastoring in 2018

🍫 Favorite snack after a long service?
I love Reeces Cups

🍊 Favorite color?
UT orange or blue. Not together though, I don’t want to be seen as a Florida Gators fan 😂

✝️ What’s one of your favorite memories in ministry so far?
The very first baptism I did or the first wedding I did

🏠 What do you love most about our church?
The beauty of our rock church matches the beauty of the souls in the congregation

We’re so grateful for your leadership, heart, and dedication to serving God and others. Thank you, Pastor Mark, for all you do! 🙌❤️
