~~Communication Column~~
Today is the Day that the Lord has made and it’s also the Day Vacation Bible School starts. It is hard to believe that Vacation Bible School is here. It’s going to be an exciting week, anticipating how God is going to move in the hearts and lives of the children. If you have been to the CFC (Gym) lately, you will notice that it looks different. It’s looking like Ireland took over the gym. A big thank you goes out Sam and Becky Heinbach, and Coty and Lelia D***s. For years, they have put together the decorations for VBS and each year they are Great!
This year’s theme is called Emerald Crossing. It’s an Irish Adventure through Psalm 23. Each day the children, will be learning and memorizing verses from Psalm 23. Here is what they will be learning each day. On Day 1, it’s “Lost to Found”. The Gospel will be presented on this day. The lesson focus is like David; I can be a child of God and have the Lord as my shepherd. On Day 2, it’s “Wrong Path to Right Path”. The Lesson Focus is like David; I need the Lord to lead me on the right path through His Word. On Day 3, it’s “Fearful to Peaceful”. The lesson focus is like David; I can turn to the Lord for comfort when I am anxious or afraid. On Day 4, it’s “Grumbling to Grateful”. The lesson focus is Like David; I can have an attitude of gratitude in every situation. On Day 5, it’s “Shaky to Sure”. The lesson focus is like David; I need to be on the lookout for God’s goodness and mercy.
There are over 40 youth and adults that are helping with Vacation Bible. Some are helping with the meals that start on Monday. Some are helping with the Green Meadow Games, Celtic Corner Crafts, Flock Talk Time (Teaching Time), Top o’ Morning Music (leading the children in music during Emerald Isle Assembly), Registration, and others are Group Guides. The Group Guides take the children to Green Meadow Games, Celtic Corner Crafts, and Flock Talk Time. It takes a lot of people to make VBS happen and I am thankful for each one.
You can be praying for the children and the youth and adults that are helping. You can pray for changed hearts and minds as the children hear the gospel.
Today, we will be taking communion in both services. This is an opportunity to reflect on what Jesus did on the cross for us.
God Bless,
Justin Carson (Student Minister)
