Dear Church Family,
The sermon I am preaching this Sunday is one I have been processing in my own heart for the last seven years of my life. On the night before Easter earlier this year, as I was praying and preparing for Resurrection Sunday, the Lord impressed this particular message upon my heart for this specific season in my life and the life of Towering Oaks. It is the culmination of seven years of walking through a difficult chapter, and I believe many of you can relate to at least part of the journey behind it. In some ways, the message feels deeply connected to the themes found throughout the book of Leviticus.
This Sunday’s message is entitled, “It’s Time to Move On: Trusting God After Years of Pain,” from Leviticus 25:1–7. To make it clear, I am not talking about me moving on from Towering Oaks. I hope and plan to be here for a long time. I am talking about all of us moving on from burdens we’ve clung to for far too long.
This will be a very raw and vulnerable message for me to preach. There will be no pulpit on the platform this Sunday (it’ll be back in place the following Sunday) because I want there to be no barrier between me and you as I share from this text. Some of you have been processing something in your life for a while—years for some of you. Maybe it’s time to move on from that issue. Come this Sunday morning and experience what the Bible says about this.
As I mentioned in my sermon a few weeks ago, the Bible says there is “a time to weep and a time to laugh.” Some of you have been carrying pain, disappointment, or wounds for far too long. Maybe this message will be a step toward healing and freedom in your life as well.
As the summer season begins and many families travel, I encourage you to stay connected by joining us through livestream and continuing to support the ministry through online giving.
Last weekend was a very active one for our children’s and student ministries. Our 4th–6th graders enjoyed summer camp, and our youth had a wonderful trip to Dollywood. We are grateful for all the Lord is doing in the lives of our young people.
Let’s continue reaching people with the gospel of Jesus Christ!
All for Jesus,
