We read in Matthew 1:23 the prophecy from Isaiah, โ€œBehold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.โ€

Down through the years, many have desired to be assured of Godโ€™s presence with them as they endure lifeโ€™s challenges. One such person was Dietrich Ritschl, a man who lived in Germany during World War 2. One day in 1944, his city was bombed and many were killed. After the bombing subsided, Ritschl was lying on a bench in a makeshift hospital, looking up through the partially destroyed roof as fires burned all over the city. From that position, he caught a glimpse of an inscription that was carved into a part of the ceiling that was still intact. It read: โ€œBeyond the stars, there must live a gracious Father.โ€ Contemplating the message, Dietrich thought to himself, ๐˜ ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ'๐˜ต ๐˜ธ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ต ๐˜ข ๐˜Ž๐˜ฐ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ ๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฆ๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆ ๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ข๐˜ณ๐˜ด.

Ritschlโ€™s desire is how many still feel today. As the world around us seems to be upside down in many ways, people long for the presence of God to be near. To all who feel that way, there is good news this Christmas season! God is not just out beyond the starry skies. The prophecy from Isaiah says that one of Jesusโ€™ names is โ€œEmmanuel,โ€ which means โ€œGod with us.โ€ We need not go through any challenge alone, because God desires to be with us.

This Christmas season and into the new year, may you feel the presence of God in a powerful way. May you have the assurance that no matter what you go through, Jesusโ€”the reason for the Christmas seasonโ€”will be with you and will give you victory.

Tolu and I wish you a Merry Christmas and pray that in 2025, God will bless you and your family exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think, in Jesus Name. Remember, God with us!

In Christ,
Sola Adesope

What an incredible privilege the Lord has given me to write my first Viewpoint as a servant of this wonderful Gospel. I am grateful to God for the inspiring legacy that my predecessor, Brother Darrel Lee, left for us all. One important aspect of his legacy is keeping the Apostolic Faith Church a Christ-centered church. With the Lordโ€™s help, we will continue to do that. Indeed, as you read this issue of The Apostolic Faith, you will notice that lifting up Jesus Christ is a common theme throughout every article.

As a university professor, I often teach about โ€œreliabilityโ€ and โ€œvalidity.โ€ โ€œReliabilityโ€ refers to the ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ด๐˜ช๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ค๐˜บ of a measure, while โ€œvalidityโ€ refers to the ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜ค๐˜ถ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ค๐˜บ of a measure. We remind students that a measurement tool can produce a reliable (consistent) result that is wrong, which is not useful. A tool that produces a valid (accurate) result but does not do so consistently is also not useful. To be useful, the source of information must be both reliable and valid.

We live in a complex world that far exceeds humanityโ€™s ability to measure and understand everything that is happening around us, much less to predict what will happen next. In every field, experts are asked to analyze and forecast outcomes, but they do so with limited success. Many of us have experienced disappointment after finding out that the systems and institutions of this world are not reliable. However, an article by Brother John Musgrave (read it on page 10) reminds us that there is Someone we can believe, and that is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. How thankful we are that He meets both criteria of reliability and validity. His words are infallible. His promises are sure.

Brother Johnโ€™s sermon also speaks of the fulfillment of prophecies related to the Lordโ€™s return, reminding us again that Jesusโ€™ words are true. In addition, the testimonies in this magazine point to the surety of Jesusโ€™ words as well; Brother Ernest (page 18), Sister Jennifer (page 26), and the others have proven that we can trust and depend upon the Lord. Jesus Himself declared in Matthew 24:35, โ€œHeaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.โ€

Without doubt, we are living in the last days before the Lordโ€™s Second Coming. More than ever before, we need the reliability and validity that only Jesus can offer. It gives us so much joy to know that we can depend upon the Lord and His Word, and we pray that the contents of this magazine will inspire you to trust Him in all areas of your life. When we do that, He will do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
