We need both…
Breakfast by the shore and be restored by Jesus our Lord of John 21:17-21.
But we equally need…
To encounter the Fury furnace-eyed, woolen-haired, burnished bronze, sword-tongued, church wielding Jesus, King of the Universe of Revelation 1:16-18.

Otherwise we will never get past our inadequate, weak, self-made image of who who He is and have an over made sense of who we are.
And, we’ll never tell anyone about our Jesus.
We need both.

The branch does not see what the vine dresser does when the branch is being pruned.
The vine dresser sees ahead to the harvest.
The branch only knows that it’s being clipped in the moment.
(John 15:1-3)

Lord, help me to see the fruit that you see, and to trust you in the pruning that you’re doing.
You’re producing Kingdom fruit through me.
