“One Thing I Do,” Part 2 (Phil. 3:13-14)
September 8, 2026
by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on August 23, 2026)

As we mentioned last time, we are starting a series where we look at the use of the phrase “one thing” in the Bible. There are several places where this little phrase occurs, and we have begun looking at Paul’s use of it in Philippians 3:13-14. When we paused the message last time, we were looking at what Paul gave up when he was regenerated and then converted, and what he gained by doing so. Join us today as we consider the “one thing” Paul determined to do, which is the same thing we should be doing today.

There are several places in the word of God where the phrase “one thing” occurs. Over the next few weeks, we are going to take a look at some of the places in Scripture where this phrase is found. We start off in this sermon, taking a look at Paul’s use of. the phrase “one thing” in Philippians 3:13-14: “This one thing I do. . . .” What is the “one thing” that Paul says he is doing? Join us today for the beginning of this sermon about Paul’s singular focus.

The Book of Romans, Part 153: The Conclusion
September 3, 2026
by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on August 30, 2026)

Today we conclude our exposition of the great book of Romans. What a study this has been! What a God He is Who gave this inspired book of systematic theology to us! Paul wrote this epistle with a view toward healing the division within the Roman church, but he did so by focusing us on such matters as the nature of God, the depravity of man, the surety of God’s sovereign grace, and the need for our daily discipleship as we serve him. He concludes this letter with the inspired reminder that it is God Who can “stablish” us in the faith, and God Who is the everlasting Father and only-wise God. Join us today as we draw to the close of Romans, and hopefully find ourselves even more prepared to serve the Lord with our bodies and minds.

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on August 30, 2026)

As we draw to the end of our exposition of Romans, we find Paul giving us one last warning against division and those who would divide us. In the previous sermon, we talked about how to “mark and avoid” these dividers. Today, we take a look at some of the resources we have to oppose division and these dividers. Join us today for this portion of the sermon, where we learn about how to stand against division.

The Book of Romans Part 151: Mark and Avoid Them That Cause Division (Rom. 16:16-20)
September 1, 2026
by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (preached on August 23, 2026)

Today’s sermon is the second half of a sermon preached about Paul’s final warning to the Romans regarding division and dividers. Here at the end of Romans, he commands them to “mark and avoid” those who cause division “contrary to the doctrine.” When we paused the message yesterday, we were dealing with what it means to “mark” someone. Basically, it means, “Be on guard,” and “Don’t abandon your post!” Today, we will continue with that thought, and also consider Paul’s command to “avoid” those who cause division. Join us for the second half of this important sermon.

As we approach the end of the Book of Romans, we find one final warning from Paul as he closes out this letter. After reminding us how we ought to love and greet one another, he begins to warn us about those who would divide us. His command is to “mark and avoid” them! Join us today as we begin looking at Paul’s final warning about division.
