We discover our gifts and are empowered to be ministers in Christ’s church and in the world. We are committed to the Anglican liturgy shaped by the Book of Common Prayer. In the powerful combination of Word and Sacrament, Jesus Christ speaks His truth to us and pours out His life for us. God transforms those whose lives are centered around worship. Historic Teaching: The Holy Scriptures and the Creeds ground our belief and practice. The Scriptures are God’s revelation that was passed on through the apostles and embraced by the Church down through the ages. They provide us with timeless wisdom that can reorient our lives – our minds, our hearts, and our actions – as we engage in our world. Christ’s Mission: God is at work in all the world – in our families, our neighborhoods, our nation, and across the seas. We join God’s work by serving people in practical ways and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

On Sunday, November 1, St. Mark’s will observe All Saints Sunday, a cherished occasion when we remember and give thanks for the lives of those who have gone before us in faith.

As part of this meaningful tradition, parishioners are invited to honor the memory of loved ones by purchasing a candle for $3 each (cash only) in the Narthex this Sunday. Each candle will bear the name of a loved one and will be placed and lit in the sanctuary during our All Saints Sunday worship services.

We hope you will join us for this special time of remembrance as we give thanks for the lives of those we hold dear and celebrate the promise of eternal life in Christ.

Bring your furry, feathered, scaly—or otherwise beloved—companions and join us for one of St. Mark’s favorite traditions! Our 20th Annual Blessing of the Animals will take place Sunday, October 4, from 12:00–1:00 p.m. on the Kane County Courthouse lawn.

Animals of every kind are welcome to receive a personal blessing as we give thanks to God for the joy, companionship, and love they bring into our lives. This is also a wonderful opportunity to invite friends and neighbors—people of all faiths are warmly welcome to join us.

We will also be collecting pet food and pet supply donations for the Salvation Army, helping local families care for the animals they love. Bring a donation along with your pet and help us extend the blessing beyond the courthouse lawn and into our community.

The St. Mark’s Church Picnic is this Sunday! Join us September 20, from 12:00–4:30 p.m. at Wheeler Park for an afternoon of food, fellowship, games, and plenty of fun for all ages.

If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time—sign up today!

St. Mark’s will provide the grilled meats, and everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair, a favorite lawn game, and, if you’d like, a dish to share. And don’t forget the pie-making contest—bring your best pie and a little competitive spirit!

Our neighborhoods aren’t just where we live—they’re where we’re called to serve.

This Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 a.m.–noon, join us for our next Thrive Together: Faith & Community in the Suburbs as we explore what meaningful Christian outreach can look like right here in the Fox Valley.

Suburban life brings tremendous opportunities for connection, but it can also make it surprisingly easy to live alongside one another without truly knowing one another. How can we, as Christians, become more intentionally present in our neighborhoods? Where might we be missing opportunities to listen, build relationships, strengthen community, and contribute to the flourishing of the places we call home?

Building on our previous Thrive Together conversation about outreach rooted in listening and relationship, this gathering will bring that conversation closer to home. Led by St. Mark’s member and Wheaton College sociologist Brian Miller, we’ll look specifically at the opportunities and challenges of Christian mission in the Fox Valley—and what they might mean for us.

Join us Sunday, September 13, from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., following the 10:30 a.m. service, as we celebrate St. Mark’s own Brian Miller and the release of his new book, Every Somewhere Sacred: Rescuing a Theology of Place in the American Imagination, co-authored with Ben Norquist.

The book explores how Christians can become more deeply rooted in the places they call home—more connected to creation, their neighbors, and the communities around them. The launch will also offer a preview of Brian’s Thrive Together, event being held the following Saturday.

Come celebrate Brian’s work, learn more about the ideas behind the book, and pick up a copy! Books will be available for purchase for $20 at the event.

Festival of the Vine is this Weekend!

Geneva’s Festival of the Vine is this Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13, which means downtown will be especially busy this weekend!

If you’re coming to St. Mark’s, particularly for Sunday services, please plan ahead and allow extra time for increased traffic, limited parking, and possible street closures around downtown.

And while you’re here, enjoy the weekend! After church, take a stroll through downtown Geneva and check out the food, music, shopping, and festivities.

What does it mean to become a Daughter of the King—and could God be calling you to explore it?

The Order of the Daughters of the King is a community of women committed to prayer, service, and evangelism, seeking to deepen their relationship with Christ while serving faithfully within their parish and community.

Following the enthusiastic response at our recent Ministry Fair, Jane Winfrey, along with visiting officers from the Chicago Diocesan Assembly, will host an informal Q&A on Saturday, September 12, at 9:15 a.m., immediately following the Rector’s Saturday Morning Study (location TBD).

Calling all young knitters and crocheters—or anyone who wants to learn!

Yarn Guild Jr. is coming to St. Mark’s! Kids and teens of all skill levels are invited to learn, connect, and create together as we make small knitted and crocheted squares that will eventually become gifts for others.

Yarn Guild Jr. will meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays after the 9:00 a.m. service in Fellowship Hall.

Never picked up knitting needles or a crochet hook? No problem! Miss Jenni will help you get started. Experienced adult knitters and crocheters are also invited to join the fun as helpers and teachers.
