Episcopal Ministries of Long Island

Episcopal Ministries of Long Island Training & resourcing Episcopal parish ministries that bring our faith from "pew to public square"

Episcopal Ministries of Long Island envisions a world in which powerful ministries work together to bring forth the Kingdom of God in our midst. By resourcing, nurturing, and amplifying ministries across the diocese, Episcopal Ministries seeks to bring forth loving, liberating, and life-giving relationships with God, each other, and with the earth.

Grace Church in Jamaica, Queens has been feeding neighbors for over 30 years, and now with EMLI support, they've expanded the program to include dining in.

We recently visited St. Anselm's in Shoreham, home of Neighbors Helping Neighbors, a food ministry that lets neighbors shop for their own fresh groceries with dignity and choice.

These are the kinds of programs we're fundraising for right now as part of our Annual Appeal! Make your gift now to make more ministry like this possible at https://episcopalministries.org/donate

Thank you to organizations like and for making this work possible.

The words change. The heart of a prayer doesn't.

For 75 years, Episcopal Ministries has worked and prayed to feed the hungry and heal the brokenhearted. Pray with us. And work with us.

This year, make a gift to join us in the work and prayer for the flourishing of ministries in Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk.

When Episcopal Charities was founded in 1951, the promise was simple: every dollar you give goes to help a neighbor in need. 75 years later, the name on our masthead may be different, but that promise still holds.

Every dollar given to Episcopal Ministries goes directly to the parish-based ministries serving communities across Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk.

The needs have changed. The call has not.

Our 75th Annual Appeal is now open. Donate here: https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/registration-form/?formId=9633575f-9d83-4196-a47c-8d46066ed828&envId=p-m_3qKkzhwUuHNB9Rc0SViw&zone=usa

Your thrift shop is ministry, not just a fundraiser, and not just a donation drop-off. It's one of the most visible ways your parish shows up in your neighborhood every single week.

Join us Tuesday, May 19 at 7:00 PM on Zoom for our next Thrift Shop Ministry Affinity Group. Our topic: "Thrift Shops as an Important Means of Ministry," exploring how the everyday work of running a shop becomes an opportunity to welcome neighbors, serve those in need, and put faith into action.

Last night, we visited the Jefferson Arts Program for their student gallery show!

"Art is for everyone," said Tyler, one of the visiting artists and teachers. "The arts are in a place where they're maybe being undervalued and there's underfunding. This type of work is so important."

The Jefferson Arts Program is based at St. Stephen's & St. Martin's in Brooklyn, supported by an EMLI grant. For many of these students, it's the first time art has been a major part of their education.

Thank you to St. Stephen and St. Martin's Episcopal Church and PS. 5 for hosting this incredible program!

We just visited Grace Episcopal Church Jamaica, where a soup kitchen has been feeding neighbors for over 30 years!

Open every Tuesday and Saturday, Grace Church served over 180 people during our visit. With EMLI support, they're working to grow to 250 meals per week with an upgraded commercial kitchen to meet the demand.

But the numbers only tell part of the story. Grace is mobilizing a big group of volunteers to meet the swelling demand in their neighborhood, and everyone who comes through the doors is nourished and ministered to.

We look forward to seeing what the Holy Spirit has in store for this worship community!

Our affinity groups continue to be a great way for those in parish ministry to skill up, learn from one another, and gather around the work that is most important to us.

This week, our Food Ministry Affinity Group spoke about volunteer engagement and the strategies that are supporting local food pantries, soup kitchens, and more.
