🇺🇸 Principled Patriotism: The Altar and the Flag

We are proud to recognize our Brother and Lector, Sir Knight Dr. M.S. Malaszczyk, for his recent article, “The Altar and the Flag: Principled Patriotism in 2026.”

In his reflection, Dr. Malaszczyk explores the meaning of patriotism through the lens of our Catholic faith and the principles of the Knights of Columbus—reminding us that patriotism is expressed through service to our neighbors, defense of our freedoms, and a commitment to our communities and country.

Patriotism stands alongside Charity, Unity, and Fraternity as one of the four principles of the Knights of Columbus. We are proud of our Brother for advocating for this important value and sharing his perspective on what principled patriotism means today.

We encourage our Brothers, parishioners, friends, and neighbors to give his article a read! 🇺🇸

Dr. M.S. Malaszczyk As America approaches the 2026 midterm elections, the air in America feels thick with the weight of history and the electricity of an uncertain future. As a Knight of Columbus, this is not merely another year; it is a threshold.

🍷 From Crush to Bottle

A full season in the making!

The KoC Brothers of Bishop Baldwin Council came together once again at wineUdesign to bottle our own Super Tuscan Blend. Months after crushing and pressing the grapes together, our efforts have finally come to harvest as we bottled the finished wine that will be enjoyed at Council events throughout the year.

From the first crush to the final bottle, it’s been a great opportunity for fellowship, teamwork, and a little winemaking along the way.

A special thank you to wineUdesign for guiding us through the process—and to all of the Brothers who lent a hand from grape to glass.

A big thank you to everyone who generously donated to our recent “Fill a Backpack” campaign. Thanks to your support, our Knights and parish volunteers were able to fill backpacks with school supplies and deliver them to help local families prepare for the new school year.

We’re grateful to everyone who donated, volunteered, and helped make this effort possible. Together, we continue to put our faith into action and serve our community.

What legacy do you want to leave behind?

At a recent meeting, Brother Jim Madelmayer challenged us to reflect on a simple but profound question: What will be the lasting impact of our lives?

For more than 140 years, the Knights of Columbus has helped Catholic men answer that question through faith, family, community, and brotherhood. Together, we support our parishes, serve our neighbors, strengthen our families, and grow as men of faith.

If you’re a practicing Catholic man age 18 or older and are looking for a meaningful way to serve others while building lifelong friendships, we invite you to join us.

Knights of Columbus Bishop Baldwin Council #15809 – June Business Meeting 📣

Last night, our Council gathered for an evening of fellowship, recognition, and planning for the year ahead.

We were proud to recognize Brothers Hector Murphy and Zach De La Rosa on their recent exemplification into the Fourth Degree, joining the ranks of the Patriotic Degree and deepening their commitment to Faith, Family, and Service.

A special congratulations goes to Brother Hector and Debbie de Marchena who were honored as our “Family of the Year” in recognition of their sustained dedication, generosity, and service to our Council, parish, and community. Their example reminds us of the vital role families play in the mission of the Knights of Columbus.

The Council also conducted elections for the upcoming fraternal year. Congratulations to our incoming officers, led by Grand Knight Stephen Hassett. We thank all those who have stepped forward to serve and lead our Council in the year ahead.
