Be Red Cross Ready Webinar.
How to Prepare for Emergencies

Tuesday, June 23, 6:00 PM

Everyone knows the Red Cross helps people during emergencies. But you may not know that it’s also part of our mission to help you help yourself! Becoming “Red Cross Ready” for an emergency means following our simple steps in advance to ensure you can weather a crisis safely and comfortably. Being prepared may not prevent a disaster, but it will give you confidence to meet the challenge.

It’s as easy as 1-2-3! Getting prepared may sound difficult or time consuming but – with a little help from the Red Cross – its actually very doable.

1. GET A KIT
2. MAKE A PLAN
3. BE INFORMED

The Evolving Role of the Tallit
D'Var Torah By: Rabbi Lisa Grushcow

We translate kanfei big'deihemas "the corners of their garments." Kanaf more commonly means "wing," and often refers metaphorically to the wings of the Divine Presence, kanfei haShechinah. On an individual level, the experience of wearing a tallit can be like being wrapped in something holy, creating a sacred space for prayer. On the communal level, perhaps the tallit can be seen as Judaism's big tent. Whether or not you wear one, there is room enough for us all.

The photo was from Simchat Torah celebration. Rabbi Cy had the parents stretch out Tallit to create a big tent and gave a prayer of love and protection to all the children sitting beneath it.

Friday night's Shabbat service was bitter sweet. Rabbi Cy's last time on our bima. Songs prayers laughter gratitudes. Check our website for his last sermon and for Stella's heartfelt remarks. We will sorely miss them both. The second photo is of our oneg hosts.

On June 3, 1972, Sally Priesand shattered centuries of exclusion when she was ordained by Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion, becoming the first female rabbi in American history and the first woman ever ordained by a rabbinical seminary.

Only 54 years ago, this was a breakthrough that transformed Jewish leadership forever. We 💙 you Rabbi!
