Even the greatest prophet struggled with doubt. John the Baptist—the one who leaped in the womb at Jesus' presence, who baptized the Messiah himself—sent a desperate question from Herod's dark dungeon: "Are you really the One?"

Jesus' answer wasn't rescue. It was surrender. He didn't free John from prison, but He called him to something deeper: peace that doesn't depend on our circumstances matching our expectations. "Blessed is the one who is not offended by Me."

Here's the truth we all need: We don't find peace through freedom and self-autonomy. We find it through becoming a doulos—a willing slave of Christ. Our hearts are restless until they rest in Him. When we surrender our timelines, our demands, and our version of how God should work, we discover the shalom that surpasses understanding.

John would end up dying but he had peace. Not because God answered his prayers the way he wanted, but because God was enough. Is He enough for you?
