Church Picnic Sunday

Welcome back Deacon Candidate George Daniel Brown .

Forgiveness. 3 times? 7 times? Peter asked Jesus for a specific number...according to then Jewish Law. Jesus responded with the familiar parable. 70 x 7. Infinity. The indebted slave is forgiven by his master but doesn't later forgive the debt of his own slave. Pure wickednes. Keeping track. Keeping score. Do we know how often WE forgive,...how often do WE sin? Do we keep track of our own score? Thank the Lord that He doesn't keep score on us. We are to Love thy neighbor, forgive thy neighbor when necessary and always seek His forgiveness.

A beautiful foggy Sonrise ahead of what will surely be one of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Frostburg 's spectacular downstairs Worship Services this morning. Come join us in our Social Hall/Sonday School Room at 10:00 AM for a great service led by Deacon Candidate George Daniel Brown followed by our annual picnic.

I'll be flippin' burgers outside on our Charbroil. Jeanie will flippin' hot dogs on the George Foreman inside. (Well...not flippin', but ...). Many others will be serving their signature dishes and flittin' around like they always do.

Please join us, come as you are, no need to have signed up (we don't do that anymore), no need to bring anything but you and your family.

Jesus will show up and (as George often says) the Holy Spirit will be on the loose.

Welcome back Pastor Dave Howell

Today's Gospel is incredible. Judiasm and Christianity at one time. Love, forgiveness, sacrifice, atonement. Roots. Our social justice. A comment on faith. What is God's intention for us about wealth? Does He favor the wealthy and condemn the poor? No. He loves both. It's part of His covenant with all of us. Consequences always lead to forgiveness. Jesus spoke of healing, compassion, forgiveness, dignity. To everyone. No revenge, hate, spite. But Love.
Jesus gave authority to the disciples. We today have the power to forgive. What we bind on earth or loose on earth is so done in heaven. That means each of us is important. Each of us has the power of forgiveness. We have the sacrifice of Jesus from God. We are also to sacrifice ourselves for each other. Love, forgiveness, sacrifice, atonement... our commission from Jesus.

13th Sunday after Pentecost

Welcome back Deacon Candidate George Brown.

Is Jesus the Messiah? We know He is. By the word made flesh. Full of grace and mercy. The only Son. Salvation. Do we know because we were taught? Or has God revealed Him to us? Peter is the Rock of the church as revealed to him by God through Jesus. Today's church survives because of the Holy Spirit. Because the Word has been and still is preached and shared. Buildings can be destroyed, but the Church prevails. The church is us, where the Holy Spirit resides. No matter where we go. Congregations may scatter, but the church lives on. Let's live today and not worry about tomorrow. Thanks be to God.
