Yesterday we welcomed All In His Name Band to our worship service. As always, their music and singing joyously brought the Holy Spirit into our hearts.

Especially exciting, though, was how our friend Stephen helped us. He donned a robe for the first time and served throughout the service, lighting candles and carrying the silver Gospel book. Wilton the acolyte can be seen watching over him and training him up! As an additional blessing, young William has joined the band. He played his violin and sang with his grandfather.

We are truly a community of God.

Emmanuel Episcopal Church celebrated the 250th Birthday of the United States of America on Sunday, July 5.

During our Eucharist we thanked our Creator for bringing together so many brilliant and foresightful colonial leaders to themselves create the precepts of our great democracy. The service was deeply moving with specially selected hymns and flowers and a talk about those “Fifty-six Treasonous Men” by our own Jane.

After the service, all retired to the parish hall for a lavish banquet of patriotic foods. We Episcopalians love to eat!

Today Emmanuel Episcopal Church hosted a Community Lenten Service & Luncheon, in partnership with our next door neighbor, the Franklin Christian Congregational Church. Throughout this holy season we’ve worked with Hunterdale Christian Church, High Street United Methodist Church, Franklin Baptist Church and St. Jude Catholic Church to provide moving, faithful and joyous celebrations. Today’s service was no exception.

Peter is a star! He’s learning all things acolyte and this Sunday was his first time. Way to go! All in His Name Band also added to the moving service.

Oyster roast! Some guys had to stand outside steaming the critters but generally our congregation was snug and warm in the parish hall. It was truly a feast, with chicken tenders, pork BBQ, several meat casseroles and sides. The dessert table was groaning with sweeties. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success.
