We mourn the death of our beloved brother in Christ, Mike Todd. Join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, April 25, 11am at Dido.
James Michael “Mike” Todd, 67, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born on May 27, 1958, in Ocala, Florida.
Mike was the son of Elston Herbert Todd, a devoted father and high school and college teacher, and his mother, Deloris Costello Turner Todd, a school teacher. He had one sibling, Charles “Chuck” Todd. During his early years Mike and his family lived in several places across the country including Ocala, Florida; Athens, Georgia; Eugene, Oregon; and Bozeman, Montana before his family settled in San Angelo, Texas where he spent his formative years.
From a young age, Mike demonstrated a strong work ethic. He began working as a paperboy at just ten years old and quickly took on greater responsibilities like managing a Texaco gas station as a teenager and working as a shipping clerk while still in high school.
Throughout his life Mike wore many hats. He worked as an engineer’s assistant and surveyor in Oklahoma, later returning to Texas to become a warehouse manager for one of the largest liquor distribution companies in the United States. Never one to stop learning, Mike pursued culinary school, earned his culinary license, and co-founded a catering business. He then worked in automobile sales before ultimately opening his own construction and maintenance company.
Mike’s journey was not without challenges, but his perseverance and determination carried him through life’s hardest moments. A turning point came when he met Dorothy Schaeferknocker who introduced him to Dido United Methodist Church, a place that would become central to his life.
For the past 23 years Mike was a devoted member of Dido United Methodist Church where he found joy in singing in the choir and enjoyed a community he considered family.
Mike will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his resilience, and his ability to find joy in connection with others. His life was a testament to perseverance, faith, and gratitude. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, stories, and love that will not be forgotten.
Mike is predeceased by his wife Carole and his parents Elston and Dilores Todd and is survived by his brother Charles “Chuck” Todd and wife Deborah Todd, his nephew Tyler Todd, and his girlfriend Belynda Cantrell.
Mike will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
