This Sunday is SERVE SUNDAY! This is your chance to see all the ways you can serve at Avalon. God has equipped you with unique gifts, passions, and interests to be used for his glory! We hope you take time this Sunday before and after each service to visit our ministry tables around the sanctuary, ask questions, and even sign up to serve!

Sometimes following Jesus means leaving everything behind. Sometimes it means coming back.

Shane and Amanda had built a life they loved in Fort Wayne. Careers, community, a future that made sense. Then God called them to Mexico.

They said yes.

What they didn't expect was that one day, following Jesus would mean saying yes to leaving Mexico, too.

Their story reminds us that obedience isn't about a destination. It's about trusting the One who calls us.

Following Jesus means trusting His wisdom when His way doesn’t match our expectations, when the answer isn’t what we wanted, and when we can’t understand what He’s doing.
God sees what we can’t. Will we trust Him enough to follow, even when we don’t understand?

What happens when following Jesus takes you somewhere you never expected?

For Steven and Becky Lane, saying yes to God meant planting a church, moving their family to India, fostering 10 children, and adopting five. Their journey hasn't been without uncertainty or sacrifice, but through it all, they've discovered something greater: when you surrender your plans to Jesus, you find a life fuller than you ever imagined.

Their story is a powerful reminder of Jesus' words in Matthew 10:39: "Whoever loses their life for my sake will find it."
