Today, Cavanaugh United Methodist Church was honored with the Norma Shaffer Partnership of the Year Award!

Named after longtime PIE coordinator Norma Shaffer, this award recognizes outstanding partnerships that embody the spirit of service, collaboration, and community in support of student success.

We are grateful for our partnership with Cavanaugh Elementary School & PTA throughout the year through ministries and outreach such as Book Club, teacher school supplies, Thanksgiving gift cards for families, weekend snack bags, and so many other ways we seek to support students, staff, and families wherever we can.

Well done, church! We are thankful for everyone who volunteers, gives, packs bags, donates supplies, and shows up with love and care for our community.

And a special thank you to Cavanaugh Elementary School for nominating us for this meaningful award.

There’s something special about neighbors helping neighbors.

Every Saturday, we head to the farmer’s market where fresh produce is generously donated to help feed our community. We bring everything back to Cavanaugh or Wesley, where amazing volunteers gather to sort the fruits and vegetables before delivering them to local blessing boxes.

It’s simple work, but it makes a big difference for families who need a little extra support. And the best part? Anyone can help. Whether you’re a student, retiree, church member, parent, or just someone who wants to give back, there’s a place for you here.

If you would like to volunteer, come at 11:45 to Wesley this Saturday, May 30th. We will be in the Harley Hudson Strang Fellowship Hall.

This week, we wrapped up Book Club for the school year at Cavanaugh Elementary School & PTA!

For the past 3 years it has been a joy building relationships with these students and watching them grow. We have students who joined in 3rd grade who are now graduating from 5th!

We’re so thankful for all the students, volunteers, and supporters who made this year special!

Due to the chemical spill on Hwy 271 near the church, we are canceling services at Cavanaugh tomorrow for safety reasons. As of now, the road is blocked from Cavanaugh Road to Texas road and we are not able to get to the church.

The good news: We WILL gather for worship at Wesley UMC at 9:30 AM!
We’ll celebrate communion and hope you’ll join us there!
