What you experienced when you were saved was the mighty miracle working power of the new birth and conversion. You didn't do this by going to church or paying tithes or any good effort whatsoever. You didn't get saved because you quit smoking or quit drinking. You're not saved because you're trying to be better than you've ever been. You're saved because on an old rugged cross God took your sins in His body. God washed you clean. God set you free. God did this. You didn't do it. God did it for you!

Today is the Lord’s Day.

The earliest Christians began gathering on Sunday because Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week. During the first century, many believers observed both the Sabbath and Sunday gatherings. Over time, Sunday became the primary day of Christian worship and was known as “the Lord’s Day,” long before it received recognition from the Roman government.

For many Christians, Sunday worship is not viewed as replacing the Sabbath but as celebrating the new covenant and the resurrection of Christ. Others maintain that the biblical Sabbath remains Saturday and should still be observed. Both positions appeal to Scripture and church history in support of their views.

The gospel is not a business. The church of Jesus Christ is not a business model. Pastors are not CEO’s. It is not our job to insure a certain cash flow or demand payments. One can pledge or give any amount of money weekly or monthly and still miss heaven.
