So proud to celebrate Miss Avery Spillman this morning at church as a graduate of Fort Payne High School!

On this Pentecost Sunday, it felt especially meaningful to gather in faith, gratitude, and love as we honored this new season in her life. Avery, we are so proud of you and excited for all that is ahead as you head to JSU. May God continue to guide your steps, bless your journey, and fill you with courage, wisdom, and joy.

Congratulations, Avery! We love you and are cheering you on!

Join us tomorrow at 10!

We live in the in-between. Christ has ascended, and yet we wait, praying for the Spirit who will strengthen and guide us. In this time of waiting, we are not abandoned but held in Christ’s own prayer, entrusted to God’s care. We ask not to be left comfortless, but to be made one in him, sustained until his life is fully revealed in us.

We honor Frances Perkins, faithful Episcopalian and the first woman to serve in a U.S. presidential cabinet. As Secretary of Labor under Franklin D. Roosevelt, she helped shape New Deal reforms, including Social Security and labor protections. Her activism, prayer life, and Christian commitment fueled her public service. A monthly retreat at an Episcopal convent nourished her strength, and her belief in justice rooted in the Incarnation guided her enduring legacy.

“That we… may be faithful followers of Jesus Christ.”
