Day 4: Love That Covers
Reading: 1 Peter 4:8; 1 Corinthians 13:4-8; Proverbs 10:12
Devotional:
Above all things, love each other deeply. Peter does not place love at the top of a ranked list. He places it in a category of its own -- the best and most essential thing. The love he describes is not sentimental or fragile. It is persistent and sincere, the kind that bears burdens, overlooks offenses, and refuses to spread wounds further than they have already traveled. Love does not pretend sin did not happen, but it refuses to use sin as ammunition. It refuses to rehearse grievances until they become identity. When you consider how lavishly God has covered your own failures with grace, the call to extend that same grace to others stops being merely a command and becomes a reasonable response.
Reflection Question: Is there a person or an offense you have been rehearsing rather than releasing? What would it look like to let love cover that wound today?
Practical Application: Write down the name of one person you have found difficult to love recently. Pray specifically for that person today, asking God to replace your grievance with genuine care for their good.

Day 5: Serving in His Strength, for His Glory
Reading: 1 Peter 4:9-11; Romans 12:6-13; Galatians 6:9
Devotional:
Every gift you carry belongs to God. Every act of service rendered in his name is an act of worship offered back to him. Peter makes this clear: we are not owners of our abilities but stewards of them, trusted to use what we have been given for the benefit of others and the glory of Christ. The danger of long-term service is not always failure -- it is the slow drift from serving in his strength to serving in your own. That well runs dry. The strength God provides does not. Whatever your gift -- hospitality, encouragement, teaching, generosity, mercy -- bring it to God before you bring it to people. Let it flow from him so that when others receive it, the praise travels in the right direction.
Reflection Question: Are you currently serving from a place of genuine dependence on God, or has your service become something you sustain through personal effort and habit?
Practical Application: Before your next act of service, however small, pause and ask God to work through you rather than alongside you. Offer the act as worship before it becomes work.

Day 3: The Discipline of Serious Prayer

Devotional:
Peter anchors the call to prayer in a sense of urgency: the end of all things is near. Whether that end arrives in a generation or a lifetime, the point is the same -- time is short, and prayer is not optional. To be clear-minded and self-controlled is to be a person who has not allowed the noise of the world to crowd out communion with God. Prayer is not merely a religious exercise. It is fellowship with the living God who bends his ear toward you by invitation. Every moment of the day carries within it a prompt for prayer -- a face, a headline, a need, a mercy. The question is whether you are awake enough to notice.
Reflection Question: What tends to crowd out your prayer life most consistently, and what would it look like to reclaim that space for God?
Practical Application: Set three specific times today -- morning, midday, and evening -- to pause and pray, even briefly. Practice the discipline of turning ordinary moments into arrows of intercession throughout the day.

Day 2: Done with the Old Life
Reading: 1 Peter 4:3-5; Romans 6:1-14
Devotional:
Peter's words carry the weight of a simple, direct statement: you have spent enough time living for sin. There is a finality to it, the closing of a chapter. Paul echoes this in Romans, describing believers as those who have died to sin -- and the nature of death is that it does not reverse itself. The old patterns of excess, craving, and self-indulgence belong to a life that has been buried. Yet the flesh has a long memory. It reaches back for familiar comforts. The wisdom Peter calls for is the wisdom to recognize that what once felt like living was actually a slow dying, and what now feels like dying to self is actually the beginning of true life.
Reflection Question: What old habit or pattern keeps presenting itself as an option, even though you know it belongs to your former life?
Practical Application: Choose one specific area where the old life still competes for your attention. Confess it honestly to God today and ask him for the strength to treat it as buried rather than dormant.
