As we approach Easter, we are reminded of the most powerful truth of the gospel: Jesus Christ is alive. The resurrection declares that no life is beyond redemption and no story is beyond Gods ability to restore. At Recovery Church, we see this resurrection hope unfolding week after week in the lives of men and women who are discovering freedom from addiction and a new life in Christ.
Over the past several months, we have witnessed many encouraging moments in the life of our community. We have celebrated baptisms, watching individuals publicly declare their new life in Christ. These moments remind us that God is still transforming hearts and restoring lives.
Our new live streaming of Recovery Church gatherings now reaches people who cannot attend in person but are searching for hope and connection. Through this, the message of Christ-centered recovery is extending beyond the walls of the church. You can find us on YouTube:
We were also grateful to see a successful launch of Recovery Church at Citygate, expanding the reach of this ministry and creating another place where individuals can encounter the grace and truth of Jesus.
God continues to use Sara through her work at St. Matthew's House, helping women and children move from crisis to contributor as she steps into her new role as Director of the Fort Myers Shelter.
We pray for God's favor over every woman and child who enters those doors, that they would leave not only restored, but knowing they have truly encountered the love of God.
Recently, with Park Alliance Church, we hosted a Second Chance Job Fair, helping connect individuals with meaningful employment opportunities. Stable work is often a critical step toward rebuilding lives and restoring dignity.
Total Job Seekers Served: 220.
Hires on the spot: 20.
Interviews scheduled/conducted: 112.
We have also continued equipping people through our Steps Workshops, where individuals learn practical and biblical pathways toward healing, discipleship, and lasting recovery. Our last workshop in February had 27 attendees who walked through the first seven steps together. We are thankful for Allen and Kelly, who provided live worship before the morning session began.
We are looking forward to our leadership workshop titled Discipleship on May 9th.
Chris just returned from the Recovery Church conference in Bradenton, where he had the opportunity to celebrate the graduation of his Saturday morning RCI students. They are officially commissioned and launched to go and make disciples.
God continues to raise up leaders within the ministry. We are grateful that Kevin Wood has stepped into the role of Recovery Church Lee County Jail leader, helping bring the hope of the gospel to men who are currently incarcerated and searching for a new path forward.
We also ask you to keep Tom and Lisa Degnan in your prayers as they have moved to Georgia. Their heart is to open a Recovery Church there, expanding the vision of Christ-centered recovery into a new community.
Looking ahead, we are continuing to pray about expanding opportunities for live worship at Recovery Church, creating spaces where people in recovery can encounter God through praise, community, and discipleship.
All of these efforts are part of a larger vision: normalizing recovery within the church community. We believe the church should be the safest place for people to bring their struggles, find grace, and begin again.
None of this work would be possible without faithful partners like you who believe in this mission. As we celebrate Easter and the resurrection of Jesus, we invite you to prayerfully consider continuing your support of Recovery Church. Your generosity helps us continue reaching those battling addiction and reminding them of a life-changing truth: Because Jesus lives, recovery is possible.
Thank you for your prayers, encouragement, and partnership in this ministry. May the hope and joy of the risen Christ fill your heart this Easter season.
With gratitude,
Chris Menchini
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Addiction tells people their story is over. The resurrection declares that God is still writing it.
During Christmas, we lost a beloved member of our Recovery Church family. His passing reminded us how precious this community is and how important it is that no one walks this journey alone. It also magnified the hidden sorrow of depression and isolation, even in community. Please join us in prayer as we continue to pray for his family.
If you would like to partner with us in bringing this hope to others, you can support Recovery Church through our giving platform. Every gift helps us reach another life with the hope of Christ.
