The Wisconsin Gospellers will be performing at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fort Atkinson on Sunday, Sept. 13.
The public is invited to the 10 a.m. worship service to hear this choir ministry and faith community affiliated with the Wisconsin Conference UCC (WIUCC).
The choir was founded in 2007 by Fritz West in response to an invitation from the West End Gospel Singers in Eberswalde, Germany. West recruited Martin Ulrich as musical director, rallying singers from throughout Wisconsin.
The West End Gospel Singers have toured Wisconsin and northern Illinois three times, and the Wisconsin Gospellers traveled to Berlin-Brandenburg in 2008, 2012 and 2016.
In 2018, the Gospellers helped the NewYork Conference UCC kickstart its own statewide gospel choir and a year later, the Wisconsin singers toured Germany’s Hesse and Rhineland regions, singing with two German gospel choirs and being featured at the Frankenberg Open Air Concert.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, two virtual choir performances were presented thanks to a WIUCC Catalyst Grant. In 2024, the statewide singers hosted Gospel and More, their choir partners in Essen, Germany, in Oshkosh and Milwaukee.
Supporting the longstanding partnership between the UCC and Germany’s Union of Evangelical Church, the two nations’ choirs embrace the mutual hospitality and fellowship of what Germans call Kirchengemeinschaft. Translated to “full church communion,” it means joint rehearsals and concerts, homesteads shared meals and local culture.
Located at 31 W. Milwaukee Ave. in Fort Atkinson, First Congregational UCC is an inclusive congregation that welcomes persons of all races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, family structures, faith backgrounds, abilities and economic circumstances.

Orders are being taken for a Fort Atkinson church’s popular “Congregational peanuts.”
First Congregational United Church of Christ members have begun peeling, frying, salting and packaging peanuts to support the congregation’s operation and missions.
The peanuts crew is processing about 90 pounds of nuts every Monday until complete. Each bag of peanuts sells for $8.
Peanuts may be pre-ordered by calling the church office at (920) 563-4802 and leaving a name and telephone number. A congregation member will call back to schedule pickup.
The official peanut pickup time is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays in the church’s Plymouth Hall. However, if that is not convenient, arrangements for an earlier or different time can be made.
Located at 31 W. Milwaukee Ave., First Congregational UCC is an inclusive congregation that welcomes persons of all races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, family structures, faith backgrounds, abilities and economic circumstances.

Thursday, Aug. 27th, was very busy at First Congregational United Church of Christ, as it was pickup day for items sold in the Fort Atkinson Preschool and Childcare Center’s
online auction!
Founded by the congregation in 1969, the nondenominational daycare center closed in June due to decreasing class sizes and financial losses.
After furious bidding wars as the clock ticked down to the auction’s end Tuesday evening, everything from cubbies, furniture and arts and crafts to scooters, trikes, sensory tables, toys, books, games, appliances and office supplies went out the door.
Many of the buyers represented preschools from throughout southern Wisconsin.
Thanks to Stade Online Auctions, all the bidders and buyers, as well as everyone who lent their time and muscles to help moving purchases. The auction was a great success!

Sunday, July 12th, was a special day as First Congregational United Church of Christ as the Fort Atkinson congregation celebrated the Rev. Dr. Sara Rabe's fifth year as out pastor and 25th anniversary of her ordination.
The Rev. Rachel Bauman, associate minister of the Wisconsin Conference of the UCC, preached and the vocal and bell choirs provided special music. Also offering remarks were Pastor Sara's brother, Jeff; and her sons.
Pastor Sara has served several congregations during her 25 years in the ministry, including Covenant Lutheran Church ELCA in Stoughton from 2017-21 and congregations in Paoli, Illinois and Missouri. She also has been a consultant to many other churches across Wisconsin.
Pastor Sara came to Fort Atkinson as an interim pastor in June of 2021 following the resignation of the Rev. Chris Buckingham-Taylor. In 2023, the congregation unanimously selected her as its settled pastor.
Located at 31 W. Milwaukee Ave., First Congregational UCC is an inclusive congregation that welcomes persons of all races, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions, family structures, faith backgrounds, abilities and economic circumstances.
