St. Peter's Episcopal Church-Page

St. Peter's Episcopal Church-Page The vision of the St. Peter's group page is to connect our parish members with one another via prayer requests, comments, events, & daily encouragement! St.

The Episcopal Church is made up of between two and three million worshipers in about 7500 congregations across the United States, Honduras, Taiwan, Colombia, Ecuador, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, the British Virgin Islands and parts of Europe. We are a part of the world-wide Anglican Communion. Peter's in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin is just a small part of that greater church; however, e

ven the smallest are called on to make a difference in this world. We strive to put our best forward into our community, focusing on St. Peter's outreach, stewardship, study and worship. All of these ministries help make up our mission, which is to help people create that spiritual relationship between our communities and God. The Episcopal Church strives to live by the message of Christ, in which there are no outcasts and all are welcome. Walking a middle way between Roman Catholicism and Protestant traditions, we are a sacramental and worship-oriented church that promotes thoughtful debate about what God is calling us to do and be, as followers of Christ. This information was taken from the National Episcopal Church's website.

At the end of our two-week series on the Franciscan Way, Richard Rohr invites his readers to practice a form of lectio divina St. Francis may have been very familiar with. Fr. Richard writes, “Although the Bible is most often used, many people practice lectio divina with nature. Franciscans believe that the first act of divine revelation is Creation itself, so it makes sense to ‘read’ or observe God’s presence in Brother Sun and Sister Moon, in animals and plants.”

If you don’t have time to complete all four steps of the practice, simply meditate on the question: “What it would be like to be in mutual relationship with all of Creation?” Read more: http://ow.ly/748D30pEU16

Gathering Our Harvest I did not grow up where I live now. Where I live now is different from where I was born and raised in many ways. There is more traffic here on more freeways. Where I grew up you were more likely to drive behind a vehicle moving slowly on a two-lane road. We have earthquakes, dr...

Thinking about Lent

Why Does Lent Have to Last So Long? For many of us it seems like Lent lasts forever. Why does Lent have to last so long? Part of the reason Lent feels so long is because it is a long liturgical season. It is longer than the twelve days of Christmas or the four weeks of Advent. Lent is the 40 days fr...
