For this , here are some history of Jewish women who have organized for labor rights.
Theresa Malkiel helped establish a National Women’s Day in 1909, the same year as the Uprising of the 20,000, which was the largest strike of women garment workers. The 11-week strike supercharged the labor movement in the period before the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, which helped revolutionize workers’ rights in America.
Other organizers like Clara Lemlich, Rose Schneiderman, and Pauline Newman rallied their troops — predominantly young Jewish immigrant women and girls like themselves.
Labor Day was created to celebrate the social and economic achievements of American workers. Let’s remember to honor all of these women and activists who worked towards ensuring equal rights for everyone. #🟦
