We invite you to our Advent Festival of Lessons & Carols this Sunday, November at 3pm!

On the first Sunday of Advent, we will offer a service of lessons and carols to celebrate Christ’s first coming among us in the incarnation and await his future coming in glory. We have planned a lovely service filled with scripture and music to begin the Advent season. Please invite friends and family! There will be no reception after the service this year. We hope to offer a space of simplicity and peace amidst a busy and anxious time.

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

This week, our garden crew got a head-start on cleaning up the beds!

There will be an opportunity to help us out more this Saturday, November 15 from 10am-4pm.

Come prepared for wet! We still need the north beds cleaned out, turned and mulched. The arches and tomato trellis need de-vining. We need more leaves to rake, mulch, and move. Gotta get these beds to bed!

Collect from Last Sunday and for This Week:

O God, whose blessed Son came into the world that he might destroy the works of the devil and make us children of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves as he is pure; that, when he comes again with power and great glory, we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

TONIGHT: Monthly Hymn Sing - Time Change

Our monthly hymn sing will start meeting at 5:30pm on first Mondays, after the 4pm women's fellowship. This is a change from the prior meeting time of 7pm. We hope that this will allow more people to attend. This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with the coming month's hymns.

Last weekend at the diocesan annual meeting, we voted to officially move St. Bede's from mission to parish status (after over 60 years as a mission)!

You will hear more about what this means for us and see some changes in nomenclature in the coming days. Thanks be to God for bringing us to where we are today. May we continue to give glory to God.

Collect for St. Francis of Assisi:
Most high, omnipotent, good Lord, grant your people grace to renounce gladly the vanities of this world; that, following the way of blessed Francis, we may, for love of you, delight in your whole creation with perfectness of joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Almighty and everlasting God, you are always more ready to hear than we to pray, and to give more than we either desire or deserve: Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid, and giving us those good things for which we are not worthy to ask, except through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ our Savior; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

O God, the Father of all, whose Son commanded us to love our enemies: Lead them and us from prejudice to truth; deliver them and us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge; and in your good time enable us all to stand reconciled before you through Jesus Christ our Lord.

This Sunday, September 14, we invite you to come and receive two special blessings during our 8am and 10am services:

September 14 is Holy Cross Day. While this feast day is transferred to September 15 this year (due to its landing on a Sunday), we still invite you to bring any crosses you may have for a blessing this Sunday in honor of Christ's self-offering on the cross for our salvation. Our crosses remind us that our sufferings are united with Christ's as we "take up the cross" daily and follow him.

We will also invite students and teachers to come up and receive a blessing as we begin a new school year.

Collect for Holy Cross Day:
Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ was lifted high upon the cross that he might draw the whole world to himself: Mercifully grant that we, who glory in the mystery of our redemption, may have grace to take up our cross and follow him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
