Scripture Reading Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen..”

“Substance” and “evidence” are two vital words from this scripture. “Substance” is the realization of faith. We realize things are there (hope) We hope for something and when received we realize it. “Evidence” is the confidence we have when received.

1 Corinthians 1:18 -19 (NKJV)

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”

The message of the Gospel of Jesus Chrsit revolves around the cross. The complete revelation of Jesus, the Gospel in its totality which centers around the crucifixion of Jesus and His ultimate ascension and plan for redemption which is the theme of the scriptures revolve around the cross.

Every human being is in a process. One being the redemption of their souls to enter eternity with Jesus. No person is a final product we will make mistakes. Wha is important is the state of our heart. The second person is the one centered on destruction or eternal punishment outside a life of Jesus and His forgiveness.

To the one pursuing a life in the image of Jesus is a wise life change. To the one pursuing a life of disobedience and sin will find themselves seeing the Gospel as foolishness. If you believe the cross is a powerful force in your life.

The phrase “It is written” comes from Isaiah 29:14. Isaiah’s prophecy will come true. Man and his foolish wisdom will be destroyed at judgement. For the believer they will see the ultimate vindication of sin and lawlessness when Chrsit sets up His kingdom on earth.

God Bless.

Romans 16:13 – 17 (NKJV)

17 “Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. 18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. 19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil.”

Have you ever met a person who is divisive? No matter what is suggested they want something different. Different ideas are good but that is not what Paul is teaching about here.

He is talking about those who undermine Christianity and what is stands for. People are divisive, churches are divisive, Churches which teach certain things are acceptable but contrary to scripture are divisive. A church that teaches it is okay to live in a homosexual lifestyle is divisive. Same is true of those churches that approve of gay and le***an pastors, they are an abomination to God. What Paul is saying – avoid them! But love them.

Genuine love will forgive but not condone bad actions. There are those who say we should only have Christian friends buy how can we share the message of Jesus if we do not contact those in sin? Simply said we cannot. But to share a message of love does not mean you live in sin.

We are called to warn people of sin and call them to repentance.

God Bless.

Romans 13: 1- 4 (NKJV)

13 “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.”

We see a great amount of criticism toward our government. Many over the years have criticized the president, his cabinet, the Supreme Court, you name it. Many prefer criticism rather than grace.

How much better off would we be if we prayed for our leaders rather than if we criticized them? You cannot curse someone or something and praise God at the same time. We must understand that principle.

Not long ago Tim Kane a senator for Virginia disagreed with a witness who said” our rights come from God and our privileges come from the government.” Even the writers of the Declaration of Independence stated that. "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" is a foundational phrase from the 1776 Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution. It defines "unalienable rights" endowed by a Creator, establishing the moral basis for American government, whereas the Constitution sets the legal framework, often citing "life, liberty, or property"

Let me challenge you to pray for our government for the next two weeks and criticize it not. Here is what will happen to you from Romans 13:3b – 4 “Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.”

God Bless, pray for our government.
