Southern Gospel Trio The New Horizons to Appear at Gospel Lighthouse Church
FLOYD, IA — The New Horizons, a beloved family gospel singing group from Lebanon, will be appearing in concert at Gospel Lighthouse Church, 205 Madison Street, Floyd, Iowa, on Sunday, April 12 at 10:30 a.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
The New Horizons are comprised of brothers Max and Danny Rhoades and their sister Becky (Rhoades) Buttrey. The group began more than 50 years ago as a male quartet, and in 1973 Becky joined the ministry, completing the family harmony sound that audiences have come to love.
The trio’s musical heritage was shaped around the piano with their mother and through listening to classic gospel artists including The Blackwood Brothers, The Statesmen Quartet, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Speer Family, and The Happy Goodman Family. Their music continues to reflect the traditional Southern Gospel style with heartfelt family harmonies and a message of hope and encouragement.
A highlight of the group’s ministry is Danny Rhoades’ saxophone performance. Often referred to in the industry as “Mr. Gospel Saxophone,” Danny performs timeless hymns and classic church melodies that have inspired audiences for decades.
The New Horizons have recorded extensively through the years. Their newest project, Celebrating 50 Years, marks five decades of ministry, while Danny’s latest saxophone recording is Old Time Classics, Volume 12.
There is no admission charge for this special service, and everyone is invited to attend.
