As a Christian you have been crucified with Christ.
BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??
Being crucified with Christ means that you are no longer under the penalty of the Law, a death sentence. That penalty was paid by Christ on your behalf. When Christ was crucified, it was as if you were crucified with Him. The penalty the Law demanded was fully paid—just as surely as if you had been crucified or punished for your sins on the cross. The verse then says "I no longer live but Christ lives in me". That sinful "I" dies, replaced by the resurrected Christ "in me."
Since your sins have already been punished, you don't have to be afraid of God. You don't have to be afraid to die. You don't have to be afraid to pray. You have been crucified with Christ. NOW THAT'S COMFORTING!
