We are excited to announce that Rev. Mike Pope will begin serving as the Presiding Elder of the Northwest District of the North Alabama Annual Conference on November 1.

Rev. Pope currently serves as pastor of Chapel Hill Methodist in Decatur and has faithfully served churches throughout North Alabama, including most recently Hartselle First Methodist. We are grateful for his willingness to serve the Northwest District and look forward to the leadership and experience he will bring to this role.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Rev. Lyle Holland for his faithful service as Presiding Elder of the Northwest District. As he enters this next chapter, Rev. Holland will be moving to North Georgia, where he looks forward to enjoying the beautiful mountains and lakes while continuing his ministry.

๐ŸŒŸ STAFF SPOTLIGHT: BRANDON STARNES ๐ŸŒŸ

As we get ready to celebrate Pastor Appreciation Day next Sunday, we thought it was the perfect time to spotlight Brandon Starnes, our Senior Pastor! ๐Ÿ™

Brandon and his wife, Dana, moved to the Florence area in June 2025. He has been serving in full-time Christian ministry since 2006, with ministry experience in Mississippi, North Alabama, and North Carolina.

Brandon holds a bachelorโ€™s degree from William Carey University and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. His passion is sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and making disciples.

Weโ€™re so thankful for Brandonโ€™s leadership and the heart he has for serving our church and community. Weโ€™re grateful for all he does for St. James! โค๏ธ
