In a world that constantly asks us to choose sides, how can we remain grounded in faith without hardening our hearts toward those who disagree with us?
In Matthew 22:15–22, Jesus is confronted with a politically charged question designed to trap him: Should people pay taxes to Caesar? Rather than accepting the limited choices presented to him, Jesus asks a deeper question: “Whose image is this?”
His response reminds us of a profound truth: Caesar's image may be stamped on a coin, but God's image is stamped on each of us.
In this message from our Grounded and Hopeful sermon series, we explore what it means to remain faithful in times of division, anxiety, and uncertainty. Through Jesus' example and the remarkable courage of Ruby Bridges, we discover how remembering who we belong to can help us speak truth, seek justice, and love our neighbors—even when we disagree.
As we approach another election, we are reminded that our ultimate identity and hope are not found in political parties, leaders, or outcomes, but in the God whose image we bear.
