Church on the Hill VA

Church on the Hill VA Join us for our Sunday worship services at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.!

We are church family that embraces the current, renewing work of the Holy Spirit while also holding to the ancient practices of historic Christianity. We aim to practice worship that engages both intellect and emotion, thinking that the head and heart are to be assimilated and not separated.

From Pastor Andrew:

My heart is heavy for the students, families, teachers, staff, and first responders connected to Westwood Hills today.

This one hits especially close to home. Waynesboro isn’t just where I pastor; it’s where I live. This is my community. These are our neighbors, our families, our teachers, and our kids.

In moments like this, it’s hard to know what to say. Words feel so small. More than anything, I want those affected today to know that we are praying for you, we are here for you, and we are ready to help in any way we can.

One of my go-to verses, especially in moments of fear and uncertainty, is 1 Peter 5:7:

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

Today, I’m holding onto that truth, and I’m praying it over our community.

I’m praying for every child who is frightened, every parent who is waiting and worrying, every teacher and staff member caring for students, and every first responder working to keep people safe. I’m also praying for the hours and days ahead, because the impact of something like this doesn’t simply disappear when the immediate crisis is over.

There is still a lot we don’t know, so I want to be careful not to add to the fear or confusion by sharing information that hasn’t been confirmed. Please continue to follow official updates from local authorities and the school system.

To my friends and neighbors here in Waynesboro: you do not have to carry the fear, grief, or uncertainty of today alone. Christ is near. I’m praying for you.

Lord, have mercy on our community. Bring comfort to those who are afraid, protection to those in harm’s way, healing to those who are hurting, and peace in the days ahead.

Yesterday, we had the touching experience of seeing a father and son baptized!

One family. Two generations. One Savior.

What a beautiful picture of faith being lived out and passed on. Grant and George, we’re so grateful we got to celebrate this moment with you as a church family! 🌊🙌

Yesterday evening, we gathered around the table with members of our Altar Prayer Team for dinner, conversation, and a time to connect and prepare for the ministry ahead.

Sunday after Sunday, these dear people make themselves available to pray with us, listen, encourage, and stand alongside us during some of life’s most tender moments.

We’re so thankful for each person who serves on this team and for the care, compassion, and prayer they pour into our church family.

Thank you for being willing to meet people at the altar and remind them that they never have to pray alone. 🙏💛

Something sweet is happening this Sunday! 🧁🍪

Stop by our Bake Sale after either the 9:00 or 11:00 worship service and take home something delicious while helping with the cost of this year’s Women’s Retreat.

Want to help stock the table? We’d love donations of homemade or store-bought baked goods! Simply bring your goodies with you to church Sunday morning.

Whether you bake, buy, or both, you’ll be helping make a special weekend of fellowship, rest, and growing together in Christ possible for the women of Church on the Hill.

Come hungry! 🍰

Twenty-five years of faithful service. 💙

On Sunday, we had the privilege of honoring our beloved Mary Ramsey as she retires from the Church on the Hill staff after 25 years of ministry.

At 86 years young, Mary has given so much of herself to this church and its people. Through the years, she has served faithfully, loved generously, and become a treasured part of the life of our church family.

While health reasons have brought this chapter to a close, the impact Mary has made here certainly does not end with her retirement.

Mary, thank you for 25 remarkable years. We love you, we are grateful for you, and we pray that this next season brings you rest, strength, and the deep knowledge that you have made a difference in more lives than you may ever know! 💐💙
