When Jesus walked with His disciples, He sought to renew their minds & change their hearts about a number of things. He wasn't merely telling them what to do or how to do something, it was so much deeper than that.
Jesus wanted them to believe what He did & carry His values so that when He was gone, they would continue His mission with the same heart that He had.
One of those moments is found in Mark 10, where the disciples clearly didn't have the same heart that Jesus did. Parents were bringing their children to Jesus and He was blessing them. The disciples were rebuking the parents for doing this because they saw the kids as unimportant and the whole blessing service as not worth His time. However, Jesus turned to the disciples and told them that this is SO IMPORTANT and they should not hinder the children from coming. Jesus valued children and He valued Parents bringing their kids to Him. That was the disciples lesson that day and it still applies to us today because He still values the very same thing!
Mark 10:13-16 - "And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. “Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them."
