We are proud to share that our Music Director, Dr. Derrick Bready, has been invited to sing in the Conductors Chorus this Memorial Day at the renowned Carnegie Hall under the direction of celebrated English sacred choral composer Sir John Rutter.

This invitation is especially meaningful, as Derrick completed his dissertation on Sir John Rutter and one of his major sacred works, making this a true “full circle” moment and a unique opportunity to meet and converse with the composer whose music has deeply influenced his scholarship and ministry.

In addition, Derrick has also been invited to conduct at Carnegie Hall in June 2027 — an extraordinary honor. More information about that opportunity will be shared in the future.

Dr. Bready holds degrees in music education, conducting, and sacred music from the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Houston, and Baylor University, where he also earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Missouri Southern State University and brings more than two decades of choral teaching and leadership experience to his work.

We are truly blessed to have Dr. Bready sharing his gifts, leadership, and passion for sacred music with the congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

In June, we invite families to participate in S’more of Jesus, Less of Me, a multigenerational VBS experience rooted in John 3:30. Each night will begin around the table with a shared meal. After dinner, we will disperse to participate in age-appropriate lessons, activities, and discussion. Then, we will come back together to end the night in faith and community. Join us as we explore how to prioritize Jesus in our lives.
