"What Kind of Friend am I?" from Job 32.
Here's the powerful truth: feeling strongly about something doesn't make it godly. Elihu was angry, passionate, and convinced he was right. But James 1:19-20 reminds us that "the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God." We can't mistake age with wisdom or let our emotions drive our responses.
Unlike Job's friends, we have something they didn'tโJesus Christ and the Holy Spirit within us. When we show up for others in their darkest moments, we have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus. The question isn't whether we'll mess up (we're human, we will), but whether we'll represent Christ or something else.
So I'll ask again: What kind of friend are you? Will you speak truth in love, or just speak? Will you bring comfort through Christ, or just opinions?
