"We were all impressed by the generosity, openness and welcoming spirit of our Mormon hosts, the architectural beauty of the building, its external and internal spaces, which included the conscious efforts to incorporate art and design that reflected the cultures and landscapes of the Southwest, the open sharing and dialogue of our hosts regarding the Mormon Teachings, the evident spiritual commitment by the Mormon community to “eternal sacredness," the central importance of the family, and the peaceful atmosphere of the "Celestial Room", where our hearts entered into silent prayer and reflection."

“What I felt in there was reverence… There's one room in there where there's this complete silence, and we can pray. I did that in there. It was an honor for me to come here to do a prayer for my people,” Ute Mountain Ute Chairman Manuel Heart said of his visit to the Farmington New Mexico Temple open house.

“So I've been in the [Ute Mountain Ute Tribal] Council for quite a while, and we are going through some challenges right now, and I just needed that prayer to really talk to the Creator about how we're going to be moving forward for my people, from the youngest to the oldest, and the kids that are not here yet—the future. So it was an honor to be here,” he said.

Chairman Heart visited the temple in Farmington, N.M., as part of the invited guest open house tours.
