It started with a thought!

Think about this! One minute Elijah is walking in the power of God, seeing God move in a mighty way, and now one threat from Jezebel has him running in fear! He’s gone from trusting God to leaning on his own understanding. Fear has taken over, he’s discouraged, and now he’s asking God to take his life!

He ends up in a cave, but here’s what I love! God shows up, not to shame him or condemn him, but to provoke a question: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (1 Kings 19:9)

Here’s the thing, don’t allow one thought to take you to a place God never intended for you to stay! This is not the end of your story!

Sharing a clip from today’s message, The Danger of Drifting!

The disciples witnessed the miracles of Jesus! They saw His power, heard His Word and yet when the storm came, they allowed fear to dominate their thinking! They even questioned whether Jesus cared about them!

Here’s the danger! We can know what God’s Word says and still allow our circumstances to become louder than His truth! That’s why renewing our minds is so important! When we drift away from the Word, we drift away from the very truth that produces faith, peace and confidence in Christ!

I heard a preacher say that all religions lead to God, but that’s not what the Bible teaches! Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” And Acts 4:12 makes it clear that there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved! We can’t just say things because they sound good. We have to stand on what the Word of God says! Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father, and that’s not my opinion, that’s Scripture!

Hebrews 10:12 tells us that after Jesus offered Himself as the sacrifice for our sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Father! Why? Because His sacrifice was complete! Think about that! And now Paul tells us in Ephesians 2:6 that we’ve been raised up and seated with Christ! Because we’re in Him, we share in His resurrected life and through Jesus, the Father has established us in a relationship with Himself! We’re not trying to earn what Jesus has already provided. We’re learning to rest in His finished work and live from who we are in Christ!

Stop Trying to Be Strong! His Grace Is Sufficient!

Sharing a short clip from our Tuesday morning broadcast of Yielded to Truth, Empowered by Grace!

What really stands out to me in 2 Corinthians 12:9 is that Paul asked Jesus three times to remove the thorn in his flesh, but Jesus responded, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

I see a powerful call to REST right here! Jesus was reminding Paul that His grace was enough! Paul didn’t have to rely on his own strength because God’s grace was sufficient to sustain him and empower him, even when his circumstances didn’t change. That’s our advantage in Christ! We’re not called to strive in our own strength, but to rest in Him and allow His strength to work through us!

Resting In His Word!

I love how Paul took what Jesus spoke over his life and began declaring it himself! Jesus said, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” And Paul declared, “For when I am weak, then I am strong!” (2 Corinthians 12:9–10). That’s powerful! We need to learn to do the same thing. Stop allowing our circumstances to dictate what we believe and start declaring what God has already spoken over us! When we take God at His Word, believe His promises, and rest in His truth, our faith is strengthened. We’re not resting in our own ability, we’re resting in His sufficiency!
